Blink + See invisibility

Curugul

First Post
Blink says "You strike as an invisible creature (with a +2 bonus on attack rolls), denying your target any Dexterity bonus to AC." Do you strike as an invisible creature even versus foes who can see invisibility (and thus you in the etherial plane)? If so, what's the logic behind this? What ways is there to prevent a blinking creature from causing you to be flat-footed?

What general defenses vs. being flat-footed are there, via item/prc,anything?

Thanks,

Not

For sneak attacks. I'm interested in retaining non flat footed status so I can deflect arrows, and later ray spells in epic. Can see invis can't prevent flat footed on blinking? If not, what can? I'm not sure why it would keep you flat footed if you can see them both in the eth plane and the material at the same time...

Still curious

I think see invisibility would foil the flat-footing effect of Blink (unlike the Blindfight feat which doesn't).

See invisiblity allows you to see invisible and ethereal foes, ergo you are not flatfooted by someone blinking since they are not invisible to you.

Can we please stop using the term "flat-footed" incorrectly? An invisible attacker denies you your Dex bonus to AC. Being flat-footed denies you your Dex bonus to AC. But an invisible attacker does not make you flat-footed.

Apart from that, yes - the Blinker strikes as an invisible attacker. If you're struck by an invisible attacker, they receive a +2 attack bonus and you are denied your Dex bonus... unless you can see invisible.

So, if you're struck by a Blinker, they receive a +2 attack bonus and you are denied your Dex bonus... unless you can see invisible.

FIrst time I've ever used it incorrectly; I know what you mean - I'm a stickler for getting it right normally, but I was posting when tired. It wasn't the main point of my post though, which still answers the original question.

Well, being able to strike like an invisible creature does include the part, that see invisibility negates this ability! ;)

P.S. Defense against flat-footed? Improved Initiative! :p
