Blink vs. Displacement

Any degree of concealment prevent the rogue's attacks from having the degree of precision needed to be sneak attacks.

I think the way sneak attack works makes rogues useful now. In my 2e experience, thieves were only good for finding traps.

Creatures five feet away have one-half concealment. Rogues can not sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment. Thus, creatures within an obscuring mist spell can not be sneak attacked.

Blink is a great spell. It provides you with a chance to get sneak attacks on all of your attacks, except for the 20% of the hits that don't hit because of you being blinking. Not something you should ever be light on as a DM. Don't forget the movement rate penalties either. Hmm, differences between blink and displacement? Yeah, there's plenty. Displacement skips some of the bonuses of blink while also skipping some of the penalties. Not to mention the Touch range instead of Personal.

Um, I know there are foils for it. Being able to do multiple extra dice of damage round after round just seemed a bit much to me. and the idea that being more on gaurd after the first attack has no effect at all seems unrealistic.

Pro: Displacement is not countered by See invisibility, Blink gives you a miss chance too.

Contra: Blink lets you sneak attack (sometimes) and you can blink through walls.

Sneak attacks... Get Uncanny Dodge. :D
