Blinking on the Outer Planes?

Hi,

Since Blink accesses the Ethereal Plane, does this spell work on the Outer Planes?

Yes, as planes have their own Ethereal planes overlapping them, but no other planes, unless otherwise stated.

It shouldn't IMHO. It might work by the RAW, but outer planes ought to play by different rules.

The old man in me wants to say that when I was a young'un, the outer planes had no ethereal. But, maybe I'm not remembering my 1E Manual of the Planes correctly in my old age.

i think that you can blink in any plane except the shadow plane because they dont border eachother at all

hehe not sure i would have to look to see if its in the manual of planes 8)

i would guess that you would only you would blink back to the plane you mocked in the ether.

According to the 3.x Manual of the Planes, the Ethereal is coterminous with the outer planes, so it would function.

In 2e Planescape, however, it would not function.

Exactly correct. So the answer to the OP is that it depends on your setting's cosmology, ask your DM.

By the current rules, the default is that the Outer Planes do not lie coterminous with any ethereal or shadow planes. Ethereal effects do not work there.

And if you cast blink on the PMP's ethereal plane, then yeah, you would blink back to the PMP.
