Blood and fists Question

Yep, ok I was a bit of a silly and didn't see it written up. And it was put into the table a bit differently than what it is in the main text.

At any rate, I see where you were going with it. I think if it had to have two stats to be required I'd have used dex 13+ and wis 13+. Again, keeping with what you were I think intending. That is the explosive quick punches that JKD adapted from Wing Chun. Ones that are based on speed and angle as opposed to raw physical power. And perhaps have the damage come not from strength on that attack but rather wisdom.

New question(s)...about blocking, balance, and sense motive.

Whoever is starting the combat, does he save attacks from his initial round to be used as blocks? Or if after he attacks and the defender starts attacking can he use up attacks from his next round?

My balance question is somewhat similar I guess. But as it is written in BnF it says you use it like Escape artist, however, in that write up you use escape artist on your turn as an attack action. Normally when your tripped you make a response, freely, as either a Str or Dex, your choice, to resist. So, if I were to use my balance, do I then take that attack away from my next round's actions?

As for sense motive and its new use, I'm assuming that is a standard or a move action to use it in the predict attack but I couldn't see it listed if it was somewhere. But seeing as some skills when actively used are one of those I'm guessing that's what it is. And I'd lean towards move action.

Blocking timing and integration with the d20 combat system were weak links of the original BNF.

The revised edition, which will come out at the same time as BNF II (and which will be free to those who already have the original) will clear all this up I believe.

For Sense Motive, it depends. For most uses it is a move action. For things that happen during an AoO (like if you have Improved Combat Throw) it's a part of the AoO (meaning you still have a full action coming to you).

ah, well...when is that slated to be released? Are the rules clarifications something you could email me, or do I need to wait. Probably the later huh? Well, I guess it shouldn't be too bad as I don't think I'll be doing too much blocking until a bit later in the campaign anyways.

I tried to PM you but you turned that off, so just go ahead and email them to me if you want. I would, but up to you, david_craig_alonso@hotmail.com

I'm also working on a variant Wing Chun and some associated feats/signature moves etc. Things like Chi Sao, Gate and cycle punching, wooden dummy, yadda yadda :D

Sounds awesome. :)

I tell you what... the release date for both is Wednesday. If we don't make that, I promise to post the new blocking rules here on Wednesday.

How's that.

Hi Chuck - I have the print edition of Blood and Fists (and Blood and Guts), but I don't have the PDF version. I do have the B&G supplements as PDFs and a couple of your other products from RPGNow. Is there a way to get the PDF version of B&F for the updated material when it comes out?

Since Tellerve has put *a lot* of thought and exceptional effort into his character for our d20 Modern Dark*Matter campaign that starts this Tuesday, I really need to reward his hard work by putting more effort into integrating Blood and Fists into the campaign. :)

I have one major NPC, Mrs. Yamamoto - an agent of the Hoffmann Institute and Martial Artist - that I want to rewrite as a Contemplative Master rather than use the core Martial Artist AdC from d20 Modern.

She has other - aspects - to her character too, but perhaps they should remain undisclosed for now... ;)

Hey Joe :)

If you have the print edition of any RPGO book you are entitled to the PDF for free (whether we have updated it or not).

What you need to do is make an account at RPGObjects (not RPGNow where we sell PDFs from- we do updates from our own site to save RPGNow some bandwidth) then send me an email with the email address you used for the RPGObjects account and the name of the place where you bought the book(s).

Time for being hooked up after that is usually 24 hours or less.

Of course in this case it would be 24 hours or less from Wednesday :)

Vigilance- thanks man, sounds great! I'll be waiting for it :) And I guess I'll post my stuff up here as well if you'd like, for well...everyone to look at.

Jaerdaph- Ohh you! *blushes* Going on about my tireless work on my character, LOL. Just trying to get all the ducks in a row as they say. I certainly thank you for thinking about me and such integration into the campaign.
