Um... I HOPE these are Advanced Classes, since this is d20 Modern and all. That's one thing I like in books... consistancy... Besides, people shouldn't become a Navy SEAL at level one. :D

Thanks
Chris

They're Prestige Classes actually.

I couldn't rationalize it any other way. If a soldier is advanced- soldiers wash out of special forces all the time.

So, I decided to do them as PrCs, which is the same decision WOTC made, so I must be doing something right. :)

Even better.

Thanks!

Okay, as someone who plans on buying this, I've GOT to discourage you from adding any new skills. From looking at the list, there are 10 new skills. There are too many skills as it is (and D&D 3.5 is consolodating several of them), and it only ends up watering down individual characters skill rankings.

So PLEASE consider putting the new skills within other skills...

Thanks

I feel your pain man :)

Whenever possible, I tried very hard to use the existing skills- mostly because the existing skill set in Modern is pretty damn good. Rapelling/Air Assault was included in the climb skill, for example.

However, many of the tasks the military undertakes are extremely specialized. Things such as paradrop, air traffic control, cryptography, interrogation- all these are legitimate specialized skills.

One of my playtesters suggested Signaling be covered by Innuendo, that's something I could do to pare down the skill list a little. I can see an argument for Interrogation being covered by the Intimidate skill (although this was decided against during playtest for reasons I wont bore you with lol), and NBC might be folded into treat injury.

In most cases, however, the 10 new skills you see are the result of me resisting new skills whenever possible.

No, really, there are enough skills. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, after all, it is your product, but people should be trying to lessen the number of skills, not adding to them. Knowledge is a catch-all for a lot of stuff. (Also, Innuendo isn't in d20 Modern, and I think it's going away in D&D 3.5) Just by looking at the list, and not knowing exactly what they do, here's an example..

Air Traffic Control - Knowledge, ATC
Artillerist - Knowledge, Artillery
Bureacracy - Profession, Bureacrat
Communication Operations - Knowledge, Communications
Cryptography - Knowledge, Cryptography
Electronic Warfare - Computer Use
Interrogation - Intimidate
NBC - Treat Injury
Paradrop - Jump + Tumble
Signaling - Knowledge, Signaling

I dunno... I'm just trying to help, because I've found it annoying when a book has ONE new skill, much less 10.

Thanks
Chris
