Blood spots with ink?

I have some parchment that I want to make look bloodstained. Any thoughts? (No, I'm too uncomfortable at the thought of poking myself.) I have scab red and various shades of brown ink. I was thinking I could do acrylic followed by ink over it?

Any other suggestions please?

Blood fades from red to brown when it gets old, so it could certainly be a reddish brown color. Otherwise, just pick up some red ink.

Mix red food coloring [maybe ink as well] with "paint on clear gloss" [future no wax floor polish works too]

my mix was getting goopy when i got to this wendingo pack. I used the goopiest bits a hunks of flesh.

Use Chestnut Brown ink from the warzone range of paints (maybe someone gave you some of those recently?). ;)

Dip an old toothbrush in it and wipe most of it off. Now "flick" the tothbrush bristles with the brush facing the paper. This simulates a blood spray while the dark brown color matches dried blood.

Dark brown works a lot better than red. You don't want your players to say "Oh, bright red blood, ok."

You want them to say, "Is that...blood? Are those blood spots? Holy crap!"
