Bluffside in my hands

I know I'm going to be hesitant to buy original product from a place with misspellings/typos on their web page:

"Bluffside promisses to become the center of your campaign."

I wish you d20 guys could dig up some proofreaders.

Please check the WOTC website for the errata that comes out after a product from someone who is not a "d20 guy" is released to the public. They have the vast resources to spend tens of thousands of dollars both in creating and editing all of their products, and yet they still make mistakes. I am not anti-WOTC. Mistakes happen. That is human nature. It has nothing at all to do with being a "d20 guy." BTW, you use the term "d20 guys" as if it were a bad thing. Personally, I am very proud to be a "d20 guy."

Another TG person...geesh

I just thought I would pop into this thread, since it seems that it is getting a lot of attention from my fellow TG team members. Glad to hear the early buzz on Bluffside is positive. I know how much work went into creating this wonderful product, and I hope the RPG community accepts it.

I will just make this comment about the "editing" or "proofreading" issue. I agree with Jim, mistakes happen in life. From the biggest multi-million dollar sites and companies to the smallest ones, mistakes slip through. Does that make it right...no...of course not. But it does happen.

On to more positive things though. I personally cant wait to get my hands on Bluffside. I'm anxious to see how it turned out. Hope everyone likes it, and I believe that I can speak for everyone at TG when I say that if there is any questions, please feel free to post them. We will do our best to answer them.

Thanks for the support and good gaming everyone.

Hey, I want to be a d20 guy when I grow up :). But I'll make sure that my product is typo-free. The WoTC errata is generally not errata to correct sloppiness -- that is, bad spacing, bad spelling, punctuation, etc. They did a good job in that regard.

Unlike most of the d20 products I've purchased. As an example, I just picked up Necromancy, by Mongoose -- a pretty big d20 publisher. They probably have a lot more resources than you do. Not only do they put two spaces after periods and after colons (get with the times, guys), but it took me all of forty-five seconds to find two mistakes in preparing to write this response (boxed text error on p. 17 with "The" crossing into the box edge, messed up italics in "contact other plane" on p. 13). I'm sure there's many more errors.

And I've seen much worse.

Sorry, but it doesn't cost thousands of dollars to find this kind of thing. Throw me a little free product and I'll do it for you for free. (Well, I guess it isn't really "free", then, is it?)

Admittedly, this kind of stuff is pretty pucking ficky, and probably few notice it besides me, but it bugs me.

It looks bad. Anything that I can find by flipping through the book for forty-five seconds should have been found by a damn proofreader before it went to print.

(Of course, I'm the guy who gets things thrown at him at work for noting inconsistent spacing in ellipses during Powerpoint presentations. So perhaps I'm simply insane.)

Well Hal, I knew I was going to spend a lot, but it looks like I'm going to have to commit a felony (state not federal!) to get Bluffside! :) So if you hear about some yokel using a stolen credit card to buy RPG stuff, it's probably me! ;) *is kidding* Still I'm glad to have more INDEPTH stuff. Thanks Hand for feeding me more on the gods and the mage guilds.

Okay Hand...I didn't REALLY want to ask (actually that's a lie. I did but not right off the bat) BUT is there a guy named Nightfall in Bluffside (HAL and the rest of the Bluffside Team: NO HELP FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY HERE! :) )? I'm just curious...

I'm another one of those people who is bothered by sloppy editing in products. Not just in gaming products, but also in paperback books, etc.

Part of it comes from working in the publishing field. I work for a newspaper. And yes, we make mistakes in the newspaper. But its different for a daily newspaper, and a product that should be proofread several times over a period of days, weeks or months.

Personally, and I may be biased, but I think this thread is getting blown out of proprtion.. (as far as it being pointed at Bluffside goes) this internal thread argumant was started because of a typo on the web page, and those things should be brought to our attention, but don't judge Bluffside just by a mis-spelling or two on the website, read the product, if there is still typos then you are more than welcome to "flame" (is that the term.. ;) ) or what would be more apprefciated I'm sure is to inform the publisher and make sure it doesn't happen again....

Hey, consider this: it means there's nothing serious to whine about. If everything bad about your book is that the website has a couple of typos... :D

Hehehe, fiar point, lets hope so...
Typo's don't really bother me if the material inside is good, though I know it does get to some people. One being my wife, she hates seeing typos and bad grammar.. which is kinda good for me, I get her to proof read all my work before I send it off for the proof readers to get into... :), and boy do I need it.. lol

So far I have not found a Nightfall but it could be a nick, like Bruskin "Nightshade" Thorvar.
