(Rare, requires attuning )Bag of book generation: this item can provide up to 2d6 books per day: the books last only 24 hours & can’t be replaced for the same amount of time. You can boost a skill by +4 per long rest & spell level by 1 per long rest as well. Exact skill & spell school respectively is determined by book conjured. It weighs about 2 1/2 pounds when empty. If it’s put into a bag of holding both go dormant until the book bag is removed, if it’s put into a portable hole it produces non-magical coloring books and non-magical scrolls until it’s taken out of the hole.
What do you think of this offering?

It's fine and could be a good roleplay item. Make sure you let the player come up with all the titles and such otherwise he will keep asking you. You can also grant a skill boost with drawing the right book, maybe make this a 1/day ability that grants advantage on a check after reading for 10 minutes.

Or maybe with the same limitation as the skill boost, increase the spell casting level by 1 for 30 minutes?

Boosting a spell by one level would be a good idea. Not sure if you need to take a short rest before you can use this power. You also need to now start thinking about how rare this is. I think it could be uncommon before, but if you boost spells, now it is rare and should require atunement.
