Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

Just recieved my copy.

I like the book. Some of it is a bit contrived and just a bit Titilating (LOL). Some of the magic items have real world equivalants (Violet Shocker=Violet wand) There is a nice selection of (euphemism for male genetals) sheaths.
The artwork is very pretty.

As long as you are looking over our shoulders, Henry, why did the BoEF thread I started yesterday get shuffled off to the d20 forum, and this one didn't?

Because not long after I posted my "calm down" message, I lost board access for a while due to a slow-down, and by the time I got it back, I had forgotten to move the thread. ecce, plumbeo. :o

I finally got one of my copies today.

After a cursory examination, I like it. For the most part, I like the photos. There are only a couple that don't work for me and they are no where near as explicit as many people think they probably are.

I like the spells, feats, gods, monsters and crossbreeding chart the best, but I can't name specifics until I've read it in detail.

It does have some errata problems that will need to be cleared up in the second printing, but the authors and editors are already aware of this and working on it.

All in all, a beautifully presented, professionaly produced book FAR better than most 3rd party OGL/d20 products out there.

I'm considering this book, as one of the gods for my homebrew world is focused on encouraging his followers to help others and generally spread happiness.

Anyone care to tell me more about the Pleasure domain, and how they went about creating gods for this book?

The Pleasure domain has four original BoEF spells included, the others from the PHB. It is supposed to be a prestige domain for the PrC Disciple of Aaluran, but it could be adapted as a regular domain for a god sex or love.

As far as HOW they created the gods for the book...I don't know. Why don't you pop over to the Valar forums and ask them. The authors are willing to answer questions about the book.

Agreed. After some posts on this board about seeing photos from the preview at GENCON, I was prepared for some really disturbing photos. This stuff is pretty mild compared to what I was expecting. In fact, only one photo came close to being disturbing to me and it was showing the effects of a disease. Hence, I figure it should be disturbing.

With some tweaking, it sounds like Aaluran, a god featured within the book, could help out your homebrew campaign.

I didn't find the previews I saw disturbing, I just didn't like the 'gritty' style that was being used. Rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. I still would like to have the book... it's just that I can't afford more RPG stuff right now.

There are a couple of images that do disturb me...but they are clearly meant to do so. One is the ghoul fever image, the other is the infestation image. Neither are meant to be erotic and would have been just as disturbing as artwork instead of photos (in fact, I've seen fantasy artwork that disturbs me even more than these photos do).
