Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

I preordered this book from FRP, and I am eagerly awaiting it's delivery. We're already using some of the preview material in our campaign.

DISCLAIMER: I did not playtest this product.

It seems that WotC only did the new STL so they could steal Mongoose's thunder and become the new 'nipple kings'.

Thank you arcady. I will know not be able to see a WOTC product in a store without having "nipple kings" appear in my head. :p

I can't say categorically that this didn't happen (since I was gone from WotC by this point) but I'd consider it unlikely. Business managers don't commission art, art directors do. To enact this plan, Anthony would have had to literally conspire with people from several different departments (many of which don't so much get along at the best of times).

But, isn't it true that if you flip through the Fiend Folio super fast while holding the book up to a mirror, you can see AV plotting with the heads of several different departments like you theorized up?

Do it, hold the book up to the mirror and start flipping. You'll see AV, back and to the left...back and to the left.

You know, anyone curious about the whole AV/WotC/Valar situation can just go to the Valar Project forms (www.bookoferoticfantasy.com) and ask him. He posts fairly frequently and loves to answer these types of questions.

What's the fun in facts when you can spout wild theories and false information? I mean if I want facts, I'll read the National Enquirer.

As the main title suggest the arrival of this 'book'....$34.00 is a lot....I will have to summon the courage to spend on this 'book'....and honestly...is it worth the price from my wallet?

A very intelligent observation. I bit the bullet with FRP to get this at the discounted price. I order my D20/D&D Products from them and have been happy so far. Still, $34 is a great deal and if I hadn't been impressed with what I read/seen previewed about the book so far, I probably would have waited for some reviews before deciding. I'm on the fence right now with Dawnforge next month as to whether to order it or wait for some reviews.

Still, Mr. Creech's comments about the BOEF make me feel more comfortable that I'll be happy once the product arrives. Is it okay to say that even though I'm not a playtester? :p

At 192 pages, at the quality of the paper, and the full color, photo illustrations 34$ is a fairly good price.

most books of this length are between 30 and 40 dollars.

While I don't see what photo illustrations have to do with it, most of this point is true. Maybe because you have to pay the models? I got the impression that wasn't Valar used a lot of freebie models (but I haven't read in depth on the subject). Good illustration takes time and costs money, no matter what its form, whether or not the industry actually pays well.

Still, I'll pay for good quality, sure enough. Look at M&M ($33, 192 pages, full color, great art). That's quality. BoEF is just one or two bucks more.

Any pics of dwarven females? ;)

Just for the cost of the artwork in the BoEF, there were many costs involved:

  • Photographer
  • Some of the models
  • Props
  • Costumes
  • Photo manipulation artists
  • Etc...
