Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

I can't say categorically that this didn't happen (since I was gone from WotC by this point) but I'd consider it unlikely. Business managers don't commission art, art directors do. To enact this plan, Anthony would have had to literally conspire with people from several different departments (many of which don't so much get along at the best of times).

You know, anyone curious about the whole AV/WotC/Valar situation can just go to the Valar Project forms (www.bookoferoticfantasy.com) and ask him. He posts fairly frequently and loves to answer these types of questions.

Not trying to be nasty. Some of us don't have the time or interest to read every thread on this forum. In one thread I read he gave his opinion and someone immedialty said it had to be taken with a grain of salt. I asked why in another thread and was given an answer.

As to whether or not he should mention his association with a product that is up to debate. I believe he should mention it at least once in every thread about BOEF that he posts to. If he does not want to do this then he should put the simple statement "BOEF Playtester" in his sig.

It is my simple opinion that when you are associated with the production of a product your "opinion" stops being an "opinion" and becomes marketting for that product.

I think what you are suggesting is pretty ridiculous. Why don't you do the right thing and apologize for accusing the guy of being dishonest (or at least stop trying to defend your faux pas).

Hitting the pocket....

As the main title suggest the arrival of this 'book'....$34.00 is a lot....I will have to summon the courage to spend on this 'book'....and honestly...is it worth the price from my wallet?

*scritches head

this has devolved into a flame war.
all AuthurQ is saying is that the book is out in stores and is fairly good in a nutshell.
But then again, i can't afford the book anyway.
maybe the mods should lock this thread?

How about providing links to sources when you say you are speaking about facts that contradict what most people have heard?

Thanks!

He did. He provided a link to the Valar Project and directed folks to the forums to ask questions about Anthony Valtera there, where Anthony has answered those same questions before and would again if asked.

Just go http://www.bookoferoticfantasy.com, enter the forums and read what AV has had to say himself. Or, register (it's free) and ask AV your questions about his leaving WotC yourself.

Easy as that.

To "stick it to the man", he put "stealth nipples" on the cover of the Fiend Folio, and commisioned artwork of a creature that looked like male genitalia. (See: century worm.)
Don't ye think those nipples are a little too obvious to be "stealth". I mean, they might be stealth without the piercing, but with it? The business of designing a book requires a lot of print checks. I'd find it hard to believe nipples would have made it onto the cover unless they were on purpose. Further, the century worm's illustration conforms to its description. I mean, I'm lookin' at Are you asserting Anthony wrote that and slipped it and a rogue illlustration past the other editors? Where does your thoery come from? Or are ye just joking?

Err - no it hasn't. Unless I missed something, the discussion has been fairly calm and insult-free since Henry stepped in. Just because everyone doesn't always agree doesn't mean the thread needs to be locked - so please, folks, stay polite.

Incidentally, I playtested a lot of stuff, but I'm not putting it in my sig. :p

*LOL*

Back to the original question, I don’t have a local store besides a WotC, that doesn’t stock 3rd party stuff at all, and a Waldenbook’s that has stocked the mature books form WotC. I don't expect an issue at Walden's, they have and do stock some rather risqué books and magazines so I don’t see any reason why they will would not stock it.
