Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

Ok so you are responding to his post on another thread, I did not realized you were doing that. I had not seen his post in the other thread. I agree he should have qualified his statement in that thread. His posts in this thread however have been impartial so far. I did not understand what you were upset about. I still think your response is a bit extreme unless he is getting some money from the sells of this product, but I understand your point now.

As long as you are looking over our shoulders, Henry, why did the BoEF thread I started yesterday get shuffled off to the d20 forum, and this one didn't?

Yeah... And including "BoEF Playtester" in his sig? Why not just make him brand "XXX" into his forehead?

I mean, come on... I'm sure there are tons of playtesters on this board. I've never seen "(Product) Playtester" in a sig before, and would be slightly turned off if I did, to be honest. I've only even rarely seen "Author of (Product)" though a lot of authors also post on here. It's just not done.

There is no mention of the fact that he was a playtester. Call me ignorant if you want to but the simple fact he that he did not qualify his opinion with the fact that he would be biased in giving that opinion.

Playtesters aren't automatically biased. I've playtested stuff before that I thought was crap. He playtested, he likes it. That makes his opinion much more valid than someone who didn't playtest it.

Also, would you call Psion "incredibly dishonest" for posting opinions about D&D 3e, which he playtested without mentioning it in every single thread? The idea is ludicrous. Should everyone be required to list all the products they ever playtested in their sig, just to be sure?

Saying something like "Well, he playtested it, so he might be biased," is understandable. Calling him "incredibly dishonest" for it is insane.

Why would you be turned off by it? Sound too muvch like bragging to you? To me it would merely give me a way to better gauge the persons comments about the product.

If stealth nipples in the Fiend Folio was a no no, what about all the nipples in the 3.5 monster manual and book of exaulted deeds? There's a lot of them and they're hardly 'stealthy'.

It seems that WotC only did the new STL so they could steal Mongoose's thunder and become the new 'nipple kings'.

I don't agree. If someone playtests something they may take pride in their involvement (especially if they had feedback that had an impact on the final product) and/or their conceit that they did a good job playtesting.

That said, I agree doc is being a little harsh. You didn't know, now you do, 'nuff said.

Since I didn't, it would be ludicrous. You might call me dishonest for getting a copy of the playtest rules on the sly, though. ;)

You do realize that both of those books were produced when AV was still the RPG king at wotc, right? BoED was his last book IIRC.

Crap. I thought you said you did in another thread about the CN alignment. Maybe that was (Psi)Severedhead (sp?). Anyway, the example may be flawed, but the point still stands, I think.

Having a good example would have been nice, though. :)

Anyway, I admit that a playtester can, maybe even is usually, biased. But not always. And even if they are, not mentioning such in every thread about the book is not "incredibly dishonest." Well, at least I don't think so. :)
