Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

He gave his OPINION about the product without bothering to include the small fact that as a chosen playtester he is likely to be biased.
What opinion about the product has he actual given in this thread?

You seem to be suggesting that because you did know ArthurQ was a playtester he intended to deceive you. I fail to see why your ignorance is his fault. He has not endorsed the product in this thread and his being a playtester for this product is general knowledge.

My theory, and not being inside WotC and having the straight scoop, this is just a theory: AV was mad about the changes coming down the pipe that would make WotC and their licensees more family friendly. He fought them, to no avail.

To "stick it to the man", he put "stealth nipples" on the cover of the Fiend Folio, and commisioned artwork of a creature that looked like male genitalia. (See: century worm.)

1) It is known that he is a playtester of the product, and
2) He has been on the "defending BoEF from any and all criticism" side of numerous debates here regarding the BoEF, the most infamous of which was his angry fist shaking at the fact that people were calling it "elf pRon".

To be fair, I think that "Book of Erotic Felinepeople" or simply "Gnaughty Gnomes" would've done just as well.

Doc, by your own admission, you're coming into the discussion late. There's no need to be nasty to him. Arthur has on numerous other threads regarding the BOEF disclosed the fact that he is a playtester and answered all manner of questions concerning the content of the book and information about Valar Project in general. I don't believe it is necessary to post this disclaimer in everything he posts regarding the BOEF.

I got the book the other day and, while not having a chance to throughly read it, am relatively impressed in the manner in which they handle the subject. One would expect, given the hype and bad publicity, that it would be something completely insidious. However, not only is it fairly well written, but the sex content is handled with maturity and responsiblity in terms of how it is presented. Yes, there are photographs depicting some nudity, but most of those are topless shots with only a couple frontal nudity images. All of it seems to be quite tasteful and nothing like you would see in the pages of a pon mag like Hustler. I will hopefully have a review up on it after the weekend.

"I just got the book today at my FLGS. It's pretty nice. Only one photo i'm not exactly happy with, but overall its quite the book."

That is the quote out of this thread:

http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?t=70154

There is no mention of the fact that he was a playtester. Call me ignorant if you want to but the simple fact he that he did not qualify his opinion with the fact that he would be biased in giving that opinion.

Not trying to be nasty. Some of us don't have the time or interest to read every thread on this forum. In one thread I read he gave his opinion and someone immedialty said it had to be taken with a grain of salt. I asked why in another thread and was given an answer.

As to whether or not he should mention his association with a product that is up to debate. I believe he should mention it at least once in every thread about BOEF that he posts to. If he does not want to do this then he should put the simple statement "BOEF Playtester" in his sig.

It is my simple opinion that when you are associated with the production of a product your "opinion" stops being an "opinion" and becomes marketting for that product.

Your post above, regarding the grain of salt, appears to reffer to this thread only.

either way, Doc I ask you to calm down. I wasnt "marketting" in that thread. Belive me I could have written a whole tirade promoting the book and its positives but I tossed in a single comment about something I DIDNT like.

You're about the only person that doesnt know I was a playtester so please dont feel decieved, that wasnt the intention and you know it. You're overreacting and taking this were it doesnt need to go, and you'll get this thread locked. It was moving along quite nicley too.

I'm telling you now that i'm a playtester and that I wasnt trying to deceive anyone.

If that doesnt satisfy you then you're more then welcome to ignore my posts or anything I say. I'll be damned If I have to mention everysingle time i post that i playtested it. I mean jeez some people would consider that bragging or shoving it in peoples faces.

And on the topic of marketing, any and all dicussions or topics that dicuss a product are considered marketing by the buisness world. Its called "word of mouth". Negative or otherwise.

As if the big "Book of Erotic Fantasy - Love and battle, who is to say which is the more dangerous?" banner in his sig didn't already give away that ArthurQ at least has *some* connections to this product. Sheesh.
