Books or Resources for Underwater Adventuring, etc.???

Do the fine folks at EN World know where I can locate some good resources for underwater adventuring, magic use, races, etc. I was thinking of running a short campaign for my group to roleplay underwater races and adventure in the murky depths of the seas. ;)

WotC's Stormwrack is a good choice.

Necromancer games came out with a sea supplement as well, I think.

Fantasy Flight Games made a 3.0 sourcebook, Seafarer's Handbook, with lots of underwater stuff.

Personally, I think WotC did the best job on the sea supplements, so I'd go with Stormwrack.

I've found 'The Deep' and 'Of Ships & the Sea' to be useful in planning so far, with bits and pieces from elsewhere.

The best thing I can probably do though, is to give these links from where I've asked and answered on this very topic, not so long ago: here and here.

Hope that helps. :)

Also, if you get a chance to ask Aeolius anything, he's particularly helpful.

Actually, yes: Into the Blue is nice too. I forgot about that one momentarily (I had very little time to post my previous info in this thread.)

The first one is actually a zip file (a direct dl link), being some open gaming content from Atlas Games:

Another EN thread here:

And, so I've heard (online), the following WE from WotC has some rules for underwater combat: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20010713b

When I get home, I'll check my bookmarks - I'm sure I've got some more I can post then. All the best with your underwater gaming! :)

edit --- I found one of them, encumbered though I am by 'w3rk' :] - here it is. Actually, it's Aeolius' campaign site, as you can see.

The ones I remember are:

Stormwrack
Seafarer's Handbook
Seas of Blood
Into the Blue
Dead Man's Chest
The Deep

None, IMO, have a spellcasting system that really does the job neatly, but if you combine things it works quite well. Seafarer's Handbook provides most new options for underwater combat, but it's 3e.

E.N. Armoury - Chainmail Bikinis.

I mean, you gotta have swimwear, don't you? The book also contains rules for beauty contests, and weapon stats for volleyballs.

Are there any rules for armor underwater?

In Stormwrack, it mentions on pg 105 "Most kinds of metal armor do not fare well in water, especially seawater, so aquatic peoples use alternative materials..."

It doesn't say anything about how the metal armor does not fare well. Besides making you sink, does it rust, hamper your movement, or what? What about magical armor, can it rust?

I'm about to run an adventure in the Elem. Plane of Water and I would like to get the heavy armored PC's thinking about alternative armors. The plane doesn't have bouyancy effects or water pressure, but I still just have a hard time picturing a guy in full plate battling underwater. It would be cool if they would adapt to their surroundings and buy coral or shell armor or something. Otherwise, all of the aquatic NPC's would just wear full plate armor also :p
