Boots of Striding and Springing got nerfed bad

but think of the poor fellow who moves at 5 ft! he now gets 15 ft instead of 10 ft. ok, so that's not going to happen all that often... but still!

Over double the cost of 3.0 BoSS, and we get a lousy 10 feet? 10 feet?!? What kind of crap is this? And it takes up a magic item slot that can be better used with Winged Boots, or Boots of Haste, or something better than something that gives you 10 bloody feet!

What does anyone else think about this?

Yeah. Can you image how the 3E gamers would have reacted if the 5E concentration mechanic had been implemented in 3.5.

In 3e the Boots were so cheap and useful we used to call them "Boots of Standard Equipment", because there was no reason every player character shouldn't have them.

The Winged Boots and "Boots of Haste" (ne Boots of Speed) have their edge, but their uses are limited. A few times a day, at most.

BoSS are an all day edge, and still worth the money.

I probably would have cheered. That sort of thing is exactly the kind of revision that should have made it into 3.5E.
