Bow of true arrows - to good to be true

The sad thing is that an archer can maintain something approximating that level of damage for some time. By using a cheap wand of Hunter's Mercy made with the assistance of a real spellcaster, he can keep up a volley critical hit arrows.

Assuming he's hasted via boots or Mass Haste, he can use the wand, and then make a full attack, probably using rapid shot. Because he's not using true strike, the archer can't dump everything into power shot, but he still has impressive damage. Also, that attack uses a minimal level of magic. Once you take into account ability buffs, Bracers of archery, etc the damage goes up quite a bit.

Now I've never actually seen the spell hunter's mercy, where is it anyway, I think I've gotten the jist of it from teh boards.

I'd say it would be good to add an attack bonus to the next shot (it only effects one arrow right?) and increase the threat range by a lot. Not auto crit- but maybe like a better keen arrow.

But with Hunter's Mercy you're garanteed to hit a god. Nothing short of a major artifact should enable you to such feats. Much less a 1st-level spell.

rangers are underpowered....

Launch item guarentees you auto hit gods as well... is going to be the new statndard weather a spell lets you hit gods or not.

so your smackdown does less than 200 points of damage... that doesnt even make the smackdown top 10.

Substitute anything you like for "god": Great red wyrm with all his buff spells active, an epic figther with tons of magic items improving your AC, with DEX 40+ and superior expertise fully used, or the best AC smackdown they can conceive.

To hit a three-digit-AC, you should need an equally high attack bonus, not a 1st-level spell.

I haven't really started yet! Add another burst enhancement (or more than that, substituting enhancement bonuses if neccesary), and increase his deepwood sniper level to 10, replace the wizard level (the deepwood sniper provides true strike now) with a fighter level. Push him up to 20th-level (with 4 levels of fighter - for weapon specialization - and the rest peerless archer) and add in the peerless archer's sneak attack. With a couple of other spells to increase the potential further, and it's not so bad after all.
