BOYCOTT of Wotc miniatures

Calling for a boycott ends ANY influence you may have on their product. It doesn't matter what you do when you aren't a customer. A company doesn't accomodate people who don't buy their products.

Of course the fairly large number of successful boycotts and the business trend towards trying to appear ethical and benevolent that came from those demonstrates your point admirably.

Boycotts like that only work to influence "Corporate Conscience." The point of such boycotts is to generate negative publicity about the corporation due to a perceived lapse in ethics or judgement, as you point out.

If you can point to a single successful boycott of a company due solely to a price increase (which is neither unethical nor malevolent), I would love to see it.

I can't, and I never said there was one. But SemperJase wasn't that specific either.

Regardless, I think a boycott is a bad idea because those of us who are addicts, like me, are goign to keep on buying!

Well crap, I was waiting for the Archfiends set before I bought any and now I have to deal with a higher price. I was only planning to pick up a couple for filling evil outsider monster places, since I gave up collecting long ago with MtG and Space Marine. I'll probably still buy a pack or 2.

And so it will begin....

:D

Careful, young jedi, these things are very addictive...

-DaveMage, who was only going to buy "a pack or 2" and now owns over 30 boxes.

This thread made me want the minis more than ever before. I've caved in, but I tried to be as smart about it as possible. I bought a case of the Archfiends set for $110, and an assortment of individual harbingers that would be useful in any game (orcs/drow/humans/elves/dwarves). If I could get the Dragonseye individual pieces for cheap, I would grab those up too. I might just order a case of those too though... and the giants set coming out is the most appealing one I've heard of...

Damnit, see what your boycott did? You made me an addict...

Well, when I said the price increase bothered me, I mean that it will cause me to buy less of them. $10 felt like a bargain that I could grab on impulse. $13 is bigger psychologically, and I'll only pick them up for the heck of it.

Of course I only buy a few boxes to play RPGs with, and as such are not WotC's prime concern. You folks who buy them a case at a time are.

I did pick up a pack of dragoneye today, and am impressed. The white dragon and dire lion I got both look great.

Well a price increase may slow me down a little but not much. :D
Heck I just bought 6 more starter kits (Harbinger) at Amazon for 8 bucks each and they have 16 minis in them.

I love the little things. They definately are "Gamer Crack".

I am still missing 6 from Harbinger and about a dozen from Dragoneye and the Archfiends start soon. Ayye, I can't buy em fast enough.

Wotc must love me because these things are just about worth it at any price since my painting and other skills to make metal mini's look nice suck :p

The original poster gave no reference to back up his claim. BigFreakinGoblinoid mentioned that he had seen an unconfirmed press release on a message board thread.

I'll wait for confirmation before I get concerned.

And add the fact that BOYCOTT in the title is capitalized. I'd say the original poster didn't get any trolls in his boosters, so he's making his own.... :D

Well, I made my first purchase "by the case" because that's a lesson I learned from playing CCGs a few years back. Buying by the pack, even though pack is a much larger term with these minis, is less economical if you think your going to purchase more. IF the price is inflated for the set I just ordered a case of, then I'd have just bought 16 packs for the price of 8. Even if not, that's 16 packs for the price of 10...
