Why even say this? You're just adding to the speculation.

Facts would be nice, Criptic statements are really just annoying.

I want to say something, I cant.... I really wish i could.
I had a really great opportunity to talk with Rob about the minis, some things that were supposed to have been in a press release, and the future of the line.

I will not confirm the price change, however, i'll say that if there is a price change, its not because WIZO is trying to take advantage of us. (hard to belive aint it)

IF the price was to go up, and I'm not saying it is (though you have a press release from the rpg news site linked earlier in the thread) it will go up because of the costs of the increasingly good quality of paint jobs on the minis.

Harbinger was "ok". Dragoneye was a huge step up. Archfiends is supposed to be even better and Giants even better.

The costs of the paintjobs and better detail are going up and thus if the price is raised that will be the reason.

WOTC never said the Current price of mini's was introductory. They originally planned to charge 10 a pack, and I have no reason to belive they are trying to steal our money by jacking it up.

Needless to say, I exlaimed to Rob that there would be a huge vocal outcry with the rise in price. He listened and took what I said seriously. Wotc DOES read these boards and theirs and I'm sure they know how we feel.

10 is great, 12 is eh but managable. Just means i'll have to buy a few less.

anyhow, i'm sure there will be more info from wotc soon so just stay tuned.

I can say with cmplete confidence that Harbinger and Dragoneye sets will NOT be going up in price, even after the new sets are released.

Dude, eight pre-painted minis- even randomized- for $13 is not a ripoff at all. Consider what you'd get in pewter for $13- prolly around four minis, no paint job.

Imho- and no offense to anyone here- this calls for a 'whatever.'

WotC minis seem to be good value - if you don't mind a dodgy paint job.
I have seen the Harbinger figures (and Mage Knight, etc.) and they are all painted to a pretty low standard.
If you have no painting talent, or no time to spend painting, they offer a reasonable alternative to plastic counters, paper tokens of whatever else people use.

If you don't want to pay the prices WotC charge, don't pay it. Just stop moaning and get a life.

Very diplomatically put. One more moan from me, then I'll go get a life.

If ArthurQ is correct about the reason for the price increase (better paint jobs), then this situation wouldn't be a whole lot different than the following scenario:

Three months ago, you're at a car dealership, pricing new cars. You find one you like at $20,000. You come back three months later, ready to buy it and notice that it has a newer, nicer paint job. Realistically, yeah, you should expect to see the sticker price raised to reflect the new paint job. But when the dealer informs you that the car now costs $26,000...sorry, I think the consumer is entitled to a little moaning.

Well, it's a common business practice to offer lower introductory prices for new products as a way to attract new customers. After a while, the price rises (usually once a solid customer base has been established). So I'm not all that surprised by the move.

Much the same way drug dealers get new people hooked on their supply, actually.

I wouldn't put it past them. Over here (Japan) I've heard from Sony employees who actually "quality test" the plastics they use... however what this really means is that they are adding enough oxygen or whatnot to the mixture to ensure that it will break down due to stress in 3-5 years. Planned obsolescence. Once you accept the idea of doing this on purpose as a science, what you suggest is not that hard to believe.

(people can be so forthcoming during English lessons)
