Brand New Players: Make Character, or use Sample Character?

Fresh beats canned. But I think it's useful to have a premade version of each class available so new players can pick it up and go if they want to play right away.

I hope the guiding process provides options by asking players how they want to play the game, rather than just offering one mechanic or another.

Start with a pregen, play a session or two. That should be enough to get the basics of setting and mechanics in play, which works much better than trying to decipher abstract rules.

After that, the player is ready to create a character on their own.
