Brazilian Army to ride Buffallos!

In an effort to increase the range of operation of the border patrol in the Amazon Rainforest, Brazilian Army will begin using buffallo as mounts.

The northern state of Pará has a large population of buffallo, brought in by settlers, and which have now gone native. Buffallo-riding is a common sport and means of transportation there, specially in the Island of Marajó:

Oh, it is true.

The thing is, I watched a story on the news about how the buffallo in the Island of Marajó (which stands at the spot where the Amazon River flows into the Atlantic Ocean) are causing havoc on the Island's ecosystem. A smallish herd of 10 buffallo or so can level trees with little effort when scratching their backs and horns against them. If the Army goes through with this, there's a good chance the buffallo will clear out a path through the jungle, along the border.

This reminds me of a character I played in an all-evil game, a white minotaur cleric of the death god, who rode a black bull in full-plate barding into battle.
