But what if you have no problem with the bulk of the opinions in a thread but do think that the attitude shown by an individual through many posts showing respect for neither posters nor their opinions?

There's an "ignore" button featured prominently to the left of every post which you can use to automatically ignore posts by that individual. Otherwise, you could bring any disrespectful comments to the attention of the moderators by clicking the triangle with the exclamation point inside of it (Report Post), which is a bit to the right of "laugh at this post".

If you think they are really lacking in respect for others, they may be in violation of the board rules - report examples using the "Report a Post" button on the bottom of the posts. Or, as has been noted, you can ignore their posts.

Being insulting yourself is not an appropriate response. Two wrongs don't make a right, and all that.

Please take any further questions on moderation and appropriate behavior to PM or e-mail, please, and let us not derail the thread further. Thank you.

Back on topic: magic item wish lists.

For starters, there are more stat-boosting items in this edition than I expected. For example, Ioun stones give +2 ability. These things presumably stack, although they are limited to max of 24, so that's something.

It's not game-breaking but I noticed that a ring of warmth is strictly better than amring of cold resistance, and also more common. I'm sure there are other quirks like this in the item tables. Probaly some abuse loopholes there if you allow trade in magic items. (Magic item arbitrage?)

Rings of elemental command get cool benefits if you slay an elemental of the matching type. They're legendary items, so by the time you get one it should be no problem to have your caster buddy summon an elemental for your party to gank.

A two-handed finesse weapon can unlock a potentially broken build, because it would allow Great Weapon Fighting Style to stack with Sneak Attack for a pretty nice damage boost. Sun blade is a rare item that can function as a finesse longsword, and can be wielded by anyone with short sword proficiency. It's on table G so there's a 0.03% chance it shows up in a 1st-level treasure hoard. Any min-max rogue would love to get a sun blade, splash a level of fighter to get GWF style, and then go Arcane Trickster and play a Jedi. ;) (Elven moonblade, a legendary sentient item, also has a small chance to become a finesse longsword.)

If you have a problem with a post, you can report it. Your job isn't to mini-mod the thread. Now, let's not derail this thread; if you have any questions about use of XP or reporting, Meta's the forum for it.

Dont' the ioun stones require attunement? Attunment is a huge consideration with magic items now.

Id say start them their characters with point buy or array. Rhwy cannot get starter stat more than 15.
On top of that, dont allow multiclassing.
These two facts are quite effective.

This.

Magic item min/maxing (weaseling/bribing the DM for the best items) is now mostly a thing of the past.

You want a Hammer of Thunderbolts (attunement)? To use it fully, you need Gauntlets of Ogre Power (attunement) and a Belt of Giant Strength (attunement).

That's it. 3. You have a cool weapon, but no other cool items.

Alternatively, one can now wear 3 magic (attunement) rings. Course, again, the PC is limited to no other attunement items. He was able to break the old "2 ring max" rule at the expense of not having other cool stuff.

So from a weasel the DM perspective, one of the best things a player can do is convince a DM to houserule attunement beyond 3. B-)

First Post
Ring of Attunement. Requires attunement, and then enables you to attune a fourth magic item.

(the 5E version of the Ring of Extra Ring-Finger)
