Breathless......

This one is real simple... I think.... I noticed in 4e and the 3.5 update that Air Genasi LOST the Su Breathless. My goal, and question... is to find another player race that has it. I just felt as a whole it was fun for flavor (and explained away why I maxxed bluff as a Sorc.... heh heh). In that same vein, though, is the ability overpowered in the slightest? I honestly thought the Genasi was.... underwhelming, as a whole, so I wasn't understanding why they was cut even FURTHER down with the removal of the LA. Thanks guys, you always help.

Warforged from Eberron do not need to eat, drink or breathe. They have no level adjustment.
Air Gnome and Air Goblin from Unearthed Arcana have Breathless.

I'm not sure why it would have been removed as a racial feature, I'd agree with you that while it's situationally useful, it's not overpowered.

In most situations, the ability is not particularly powerful. If the campaign is heavily centered on water and the other PCs are capable of drowning, then it does become a significant advantage. I still wouldn't put an LA for it. In general, genasi are hardly overpowered.

An Air Genasi in my game once used the breathless ability to great effect: due to being breathless, I ruled that Stinking Cloud didn't affect her, so it became her go-to defense spell when the enemy go close. In fact, she sought out such situations. On occasion, she would also float upwards, out of the cloud, using her Levitation ability, to pick off anything that tried to escape from the cloud. Effective use of underwhelming racial specials!

(still not worth any LA...)
