ooc: not knowing the general lay of the land or the type of thieves this land sees, I do not know exactly how bad things can get. I will assume, since I only brought two guards, and since you wrote that it has been an uneventful Winter, that the threat level is low.
ic:
Sedoc sets the watches as the trip begins, and the pattern continues throughout the trip.
During the day
- on the wagon is the driver.
- one of the guards rides a quarter mile ahead, marking bad places in the road, and looking for other travelers they may cross.
- one guard walks behind the wagon, occasionally sitting on a board off the back to watch behind the party.
- one guard (Sedoc is the third) rides on the wagon bench.
The three rotate roughly on the hour to keep alert.
- Sedoc rotates to the back, back guard takes the horse, horse guard sits on the wagon and rests
at night
- Driver can rest all night (needs to concentrate on driving) as the guild requires
- Sedoc takes first watch (sunset - 8p.m. to one a.m.)
- Duncan, guard one, takes middle watch (one a.m. to five a.m.)
- Harold, guard two, takes morning watch (five a.m. to nine a.m. - sunrise)
- Harold gets first rest on the wagon when traveling begins after the sun rises
