npc now named landariel,

Its early spring and the land is losing its pristine look of quite beuty. Its been a quiet winter, not much news of anything going on, even the Empire seems to have been dormant these last months. ONe evening, quite late, Serafelion feels the slight burn on his inside left wrist that denotes a message coming in. "Seraf, its me Landariel, i've been given a mission. Meet me at Sedocs in The Crossings."

The Crossings is located at the fount(beggining )of the Great Odan where the little Odan splits off from it and heads west. You have to travel 20+days, if things go smoothly, to get to the crossings which lies to the north. you must travel either by sea up the coast to ritomelan or by land through the Old Forrest.

Play begins with your journey to the north. How you choose to travel will definately change the trip.

Sedoc

You feel the burn and respond in time to here..."Sedoc we'll be meeting at your place".
You are in Diatonne to the west located on a loop of the river Ag. You have plains and forest to get through to get home, not to mention secure your purchases for your shop and get them back safely as well.

Sedoc concludes buying the best of last fall's wine, a few crates of 'baccy', and some good quality glassware from a local artisan.

He hires a wagon, and a driver. The two ranger/fighter type guards have traveled with him before and have accompanied him on this journey. In two days, all the glassware has been wrapped individually in linnen and crated. The bottles and casks of wine are also wrapped, packed in sawdust, and crated as well.

He begins his journey home on the road.

"glad the roads have not completely thawed out yet - I may make good time."

Sedoc

You begin the long journey home, goods all wrapped up tight with your guards at the ready. The day starts crisp, that springy smell coming off everything. They say its to be a hot summer.

How will you travel....placement of guards, watches etc....

ooc: not knowing the general lay of the land or the type of thieves this land sees, I do not know exactly how bad things can get. I will assume, since I only brought two guards, and since you wrote that it has been an uneventful Winter, that the threat level is low.

ic:
Sedoc sets the watches as the trip begins, and the pattern continues throughout the trip.
During the day
- on the wagon is the driver.
- one of the guards rides a quarter mile ahead, marking bad places in the road, and looking for other travelers they may cross.
- one guard walks behind the wagon, occasionally sitting on a board off the back to watch behind the party.
- one guard (Sedoc is the third) rides on the wagon bench.

The three rotate roughly on the hour to keep alert.
- Sedoc rotates to the back, back guard takes the horse, horse guard sits on the wagon and rests

at night
- Driver can rest all night (needs to concentrate on driving) as the guild requires
- Sedoc takes first watch (sunset - 8p.m. to one a.m.)
- Duncan, guard one, takes middle watch (one a.m. to five a.m.)
- Harold, guard two, takes morning watch (five a.m. to nine a.m. - sunrise)
- Harold gets first rest on the wagon when traveling begins after the sun rises

it is the beggining of the second day of travel and you come to a crossroad. you can either go over the river and through the wood to get to ritomelan the quickest possable from there carry on over land or take the little odan home. otherwise you take the longer road which skirts the forest and travels mainly through rolling grasslands.

carrying so much glass, Sedoc prefers to travel in the open, where the road has fewer roots and stumps to jar the load. He chooses the slightly longer, but smoother, route. The others should still arrive after he does (right?)

Who knows, it depends where landariel was wandering when he was contacted. One more series of questions and we'll be ready for this evening.......

Are your men fighters or rangers, or one of each.?....i'll then come up with quick stats for them
