House rules I think are needed to deal with "broken things"
* No thing or things can apply more than a -8 saving throw penalty.
* Care must be given to insure that Consecrated Ground isn't broken. It may be that you need to say "dieing!=bloodied" or that the healing is regeneration or read the rules in a way that sustaining this is tricky if you move at all. But liberal interpretations of all of the above are pretty scary.

In general I think their errors were the other way around. Some powers/options are way too weak. In particular higher-level powers don't seem to do enough damage...

I think there are 2-3 items in the AV that add to your defenses without being one of the three slots that actually bumps up your stats numerically. I just disallow them in my game because they're lame. (shrug)

Wow. It looks like in 4e Broken got the Shaft.

There's not yet enough materials to determine brokenness of the system...

Just wait until the PHB-III includes something really nasty... brokenness at its best occurs with edition bloat, and considering this edition seems to be ready for rapid and concise expansions, it will only be time.

Well yes but with 3e I got to hear about how "Clerics were Broken!" and "Rangers got the Shaft" right there in the core rules. Just another example of how we are getting less with 4e. :p

There are a couple things that make me cautious, but nothing I see as broken-- yet.

Polearm Gamble makes me wary, because it seems to have the potential to combine with things that may come along later to break things, but I don't see it broken as is.

From the AV, vampiric gauntlets look pretty sick. (L16, encounter: melee dex +4 v. reflex, opponent takes your healing surge damage, you heal that much) I haven't seen how they play out, but an extra healing surge each encouner (or 50%, assuming you hit half the time) plus fixed damage about equal to what you can expect from a sneak attack seems a bit much. I'd be completely comfortable houseruling it as a daily though.

Has WotC errataed Demigod Regeneration + Seal of Binding? And what about stun locking orb wizards?

What about that ring which halves ritual costs (magic items for 1/2 the price)?
Then there is Consecrated Ground which makes you unkillable at Heroic Tier, especially when coupled with Beacon of Hope.

Sure, the more rules you get out, the more likely it is there is either something that slipped under the radar and is broken on its own, or a combination of things that is just broken.

But I am afraid many aspects of 3E were broken in Core. Of course, that is a matter of definition - are animated shield + Greatsword with Power Attack broken? Or are they just a way to bring Fighters on par with Wizards?

I think the -8 penalty to saving throw might be the closest example to this in 4E. But I am not sure its "bad enough".
