Broken and banned

Well yes but with 3e I got to hear about how "Clerics were Broken!" and "Rangers got the Shaft" right there in the core rules. Just another example of how we are getting less with 4e. :p

I have never had an issue of worrying about broken core classes... supposedly, classes are allowed to be unbalanced sometimes as they serve different roles...

Yes, the existence of class balance in some cases suck, but a base class being slightly off doesn't make me feel too bad... having that same class take the same 5 'feats', same 'spells/powers/abilities', gear, etc. makes for the actual brokenness. And that my friend will come about as sure as the nose on my face.

And my nose does odds in Vegas. Surety is its strong suit.

Slainte,

-Anything that lowers ritual costs, like the High Mage and Ritualist's Ring. They work fine, except for item creation rituals.
-The AV Bracers for archery and melee that give a flat +2/4/6 to damage. No, thank you.
-Opal Ring of Remembrance, from the AV. I have no idea why it was printed.

Other than that, it's pretty good so far. Of course, if I see things I don't like or things being abused (Orb, Bloodclaw weapons), I'll nerf them as they come up.

Don't forget skill challenges which are broken with and without errata, just in different ways.
Eh, they work fine errata'd with the old DCs and no footnote. They overcompensated with the errata DCs, but the middle ground is a nice level of difficulty.

Has WotC errataed Demigod Regeneration + Seal of Binding? And what about stun locking orb wizards?

What about that ring which halves ritual costs (magic items for 1/2 the price)?
Then there is Consecrated Ground which makes you unkillable at Heroic Tier, especially when coupled with Beacon of Hope.

I forgot about that ring. That ring would get my vote for most broken thing in the game, though with -14(there is an Orb that adds its enhancement to the penalty) to a save a close second.

Pretty much everything that has or was problematic has been errata'd and it looks like WoTC is going to keep up with the errata going forward (probably due to the DDI). I'd potentially ban the usage of NPC races from the MM that can wield oversized weapons (and even then, it wasn't that bad IMO, just makes the PHB races look sucky as weapon users by comparison); luckily, the minotaur has already gotten the PC race treatment and this ability was removed.

Mike Mearls said a couple of days ago that he'll errata any PC race that ends up with the ability to use oversized weapons. :)

Cheers!

Hmm, let me also add things banned because of lameness to the original question.

And immediately say that some of the double weapons are banned from my campaign because of said lameness. Especially Double Flail.

Banned in 4e? Nothing yet.

Banned in 3.5? I lo longer have my 3e-era files, but our House Rule .doc was multiple pages long, a sizable chunk of which concerned banning stuff we felt made the game less fun.

There are a few things that look broken in 4e. But it has not actually been broken in play. And the few things that were broken like Blade Cascade or Minotaur's using oversized weapons has been errata-ed or revised in Dragon magazine to be no longer broken.

My 3.5 house rule doc was pages long. I have to give WotC props for coming out with an edition that so far is looking good.

So far I allow all WotC books. But no MM races until they are given write-ups in Dragon.
