Bruckenheimer to do King Arthur

I'm with John Crichton here. Jerry Bruckheimer has made some movies I've loved, and some movies I've hated.

Personally, I'm looking forward to it. It appears as though he's gotten a good writer and a good director (I loved both Training Day and Gladiator), and besides, I'm a sucker for movies that have gritty and realistic ancient world/medieval battle scenes. Heck, even if the story to the movie turns out to be a disappointment, I'll still go see it if I hear that it's got great battle scenes.

I am not a hard man to please. :D

I'm with Dark Jezter here. I am a sucker for Medieval type battle scenes. Have 2 armies charge each other with swords and I a pretty happy camper.

I like some of Brukhiemers stuff, don't like others but you can't please everybody.

What types of movies would you rather see in 2005- Fast and the Furious 4, Charlies Angles 4: Ohh my gawd another Wrinkle, Happy Days the Movie, Friends 2 The Movie again, Star Wars Episode 3 Return of the Mullet.

I look at that list and I see some damn fine and entertaining films there. I also see some real stinkers, but the good stuff outnumbers the crap, IMO. Also, he is a producer and not a director. Sure, he's known as the guy 'Mike Bay and all that direct like him' always work with but there is no reason to believe that this man cannot do what has been set out in that press release. He'll have the budget and he'll probably get the big talent needed to pull it off. What actor wouldn't want to do a movie like this? These things are huge vehicles for current and future stars.

The star-factor aside, Micheal Bay is not directing this film, nor should he be if Bruckheimer wants a series take on it. Bay makes fun/action packed movies that are over-the-top. I happen to be a big Bay fan (okay, except for Pearl Harbor, that flick stank).

Putting it lightly, Bruckheimer is one of the most influencial and successful producers in Hollywood. I'd rather have him than Joel Silver (who used to be one of my favorite producers until about 4 years ago) on board for this type of movie. Different strokes and all that apply of course. :)

re

*weeps*

I want a film that captures the violence, nobility, honor and tradition that makes me love the Arthurian legends. Bruckheimer is the worst person possible to make an Arthur movie, and I am no fan of Antoine Fuqua. His films always seem to be missing elements that would take them from good to great.

They should get Ridley Scott to do an Arthur movie. He would make one awsome movie.

Who would you rather have produce this film? I'm not talking about a director, here (not that Fuqua would be my first choice, either).

I would also like to mention that Scott and Bruckheimer have worked together before.

re

I wouldn't mind seeing someone from Dreamworks produce the film. I am not particularly up on my producers, but the people who produced Gladiator might not be a bad choice.
