BtVS Spoilers (02/03/03)

I have to say that thus far I have not liked Kennedy, but I'm not sure if it is the actress, or the character I don't like.

It could be the character as she's seemed used to getting what she wants. Known since she was very little that she was a Slayer, and a very wealthy family. She didn't seem to be skipping the training to help Willow, so much as completely selfish reasons.

The other reason I dislike her could be character or actress...

Whenever she has spoken lines, she doesn't seem concerned, or decisive or seductive or whatever emotion is being portrayed. It seems closer to "I should be feeling this way at the moment, so I'll be pout my lips, stare, and hope that gets it across".

Minor complaints in any case, and I did enjoy the episode.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS OF FUTURE ANGEL & BUFFY EPS AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Good episode.

While I didn't enjoy it bringing up more questions than answers I know the better stuff is coming. I like Kennedy, she is strong and Willow digs strong. She kinda came out of no where so she may fit more strongly into the plot than we can see right now. The Giles stuff is still good. The Initiatve stuff was good. I'm interested in Buffy's choice about the chip.

I'm not going to make any predictions. I will say that in any Joss show, when something good looks like it's going to happen it always gets turned on its head. Considering the this season's Big Bad has been really mysterious and we still (nor do the characters) don't know what is going on I'm still quite entertained by it all.

The larger cast of characters is an interesting departure from the usually small 4-6 person gang. And on a side note, I'm just looking forward to the upcoming Faith eps on both Angel & Buffy. :)

Does anyone else think Kennedy looks like a young Jenny Calendar? I'm not saying it's purposeful, but it distracts me every time I see her.

Mmm, Jenny Calendar. How I miss you.

Now that you say it. I have been wondering where I have seen her before and if she had been on the show before.

Once again, Andrew provided my favorite line of the episode: "If you leave me here all alone, I'll...do something evil. Like set something on fire, or...oh! glue stuff together!"

Another thing about Andrew...

When he goes to answer the phone he mentioned a comic book "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"

FYI. This comic is a real (like you didn't already know), but what you may not know is that it is a good comic worth reading. If you have even a slight interest in Victorian literature, I highly recommend you go to your local comic store and ask for this book.

I second the recommendation. There's a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen collection of the first 7 issues out already, and it's well worth the money.

However, if you want to kind of see what it's like first, Wulf Ratbane's starting up a LoEG Story Hour (using d20 Modern rules) HERE.

Can anyone say amy+stated motives=weak, lets hope there is something more there. Also did the commercial breaks seem longer than normal?
I wonder where she got the mojo to do what she did - teleport Kennedy from what I guess was UCSD campus to casa Summers. As I recall, even Willow hyped up on Dark Magic and fueled by grief couldn't actually teleport, just "ride the wind" or something.

Well I've been thinking about that too. Willow and Tara did a pseudo-teleport of Glory at season 5, Maybe teleporting someone else is easier than teleporting yourself?

Or maybe she's getting help and or power some something Evil?

One things for certain...I wanna see more of Amy. I'd very much like to see an Amy-Willow showdown...that would be cool. A real honest to god magic duel.

The episode wasn't bad, but it really lacked energy. I've read the spoilers, but thought there would be MORE to Willow turning into Warren then an episode's worth.

Just as I thought there would be more suspense around the whole Giles is Evil thing.

Buffy & Spike encountering a monster was just blah, and the decision thing was a bit dragged out I think.

For Amy, I really wanted The Evil to be involved. Corrupting a coven would have been cool enough. I don't want everything to center around teh evil, but this once it would have added.

Kennedy is a bit wooden, but I never liked doe-eyed Tara, so I see Kennedy as a vast improvement.

But, as I mentioned, it all seemed to be lacking energy, Willow, Buffy, everyone was just... static.
Spike was good, Anya's "oh yeah, an ex demon, two geeks" comment was good, but otherwise just a filler ep.
