Buffy [5-May-03]

ok, so you can all bash the show, but is anyone actually gonna talk about what happens? i mean, BESIDES the sex.

faith leads the sccobie-dums on a search for a heavily guarded arsenal of weapons and instead finds minimal defense, barely a handful of shoddy weapons and A BOMB. this is whats known as a TRAP.

who led them down this dark path? a captured bringer...
well, it was dawnies idea to use this particular spell...
but willow cast it
and andrew was the "speaker"
and giles suddenly slashed the bringers throat to end the spell before any further details could be given.

SOOOO....
which one of these four suspects is up to no good?

some people still think giles hasnt been acting giles-ish
i brought up the fact last week that theres been a few clues that dawnies up to no good.
the other two are innocent i'm sure.
or maybe i'm just inventing stuff again.

I have to agree with you about Dawn (nice use of the name as it hints at who called her that that may be behind things), she has a history. Plus, she is not really human is she and her understanding of languages. Dawn, still is the key. :)

Well, while I won't say the episode rocked, it was pretty good, and much better than last week. I don't see it as boring, just not packed with fight-scenes.

So, Buffy was right, but Buffy was wrong. Glad to see that she realized her judgement was impaired. Hopefully, she'll actually act like Buffy for the last two episodes. We'll see. Glad she started thinking, for a change.

Personally, I like Faith a lot. Since her reappearance on Angel, she's come across as her own person. Different than Buffy, but of the same cut. The way they contrast against each other is part of the fun. That both of them see things in each other that they envy and dislike is an integral part of their relationship. I just wish they weren't expending energy to make a Buffy/Faith showdown, but so be it.

Could Giles be a bad guy, yet? Not impossible, to be sure, but I doubt it. Could Dawnie be? Really doubt it. Same for Willow. And Andrew? He who is like a mushroom? Nah. He had his chance. And let's face facts, for the first time, he actually BELONGS to a group. Very tangentially, and not in the manner of his liking, but he does belong. That's all he's about.

Very interested for the next episode.

We don't get "next week on Buffy" after episodes here. Can someone tell me what the teaser is for next week's episode? No extra spoilers tho please. Thanks. :)

The fight with all the flashlights waving around was fairly cool.

Liked the "object" that Buffy found and the one found by Faith was a bit of a surprise, too. :)

Explosions. Dead or unconscious SIT's/Faith. Buffy with big weapon. Angel. I think that's about it. :)

I mostly liked the episode. As with anything there were flaws, including the wasted Sex Time, but all in all, better than it's been for a while now.

A friend remarked that nothing was advanced, the Buffy/Spike thing has already been done before, etc. He also didn't like Buffy taking the house, but I thought it was fine.

For advancement, Faith definetly proved that she is more proactive than Buffy. She thought up a plot, she pushed the plot through, and they nabbed the Bringer.
I think she didn't take into account that the First could probably have been listening to every planning session, and the trap was easily done, but I'm not sure.

Buffy springing back was to my liking. It may have seemed too sudden, but she "knew" what she had to do and she did it. That's Buffy. The Uber weapon was so-so, but it's something at least.
(Though, when the Caleb/ Buffy stuff started, I commented "oh look, a matrix preview" just as the friend said "when did Buffy learn Wire-fu?" so that could have been less derivative.)

I'm not positive, but did Faith yell "get down" when she found the bomb? Does that seem funny to everyone else too? :)

I thought the ep was pretty good overall and I have long since given up on Buffy.

when I saw the set up of weapons ... I thought goonies "Booty Trap!"

It was the propane and oxygen tanks that clued me in. All I could think was, "gee, those explode don't they?".

I don't know why the bringer couldn't have just lied. The spell's supposed to let him talk, not make him tell the truth. Besides, it's a good ploy..."these guys have their tongues ripped out and it must be so they can't say what their sides up to" or at least that's what The First wants you to think.

I thought this episode was weak, but not just because of the forced sex scenes, but I believe, because I don't like any of the characters anymore. Buffy showed for the first time her ingenuity and ability, which I really liked, I hope she continues this for the last 2 episodes. I enjoyed that she bounced back, she is not a quitter and the pouting self-pitying Buffy has been done to death over the last few years.

Anyway, I digress. Xander is doing nothing and it angers me because he is a main character from the beginning and Joss has done nothing with him for two years. Kennedy, I hate her character, she is inexperienced and has a loud mouth with nothing to back it up. I hate her! Giles, has not been himself all season and the show suffers because of it. Andrew, well he is the best, very funny, well portrayed and well written. Spike has been around too long, but I still like him.

I wish that Joss really focused on the original cast instead of introducing all of these new characters. What was with the SIT battle anyway, not one of them died, what is the deal with that? Where did they learn to fight with such precision in the dark against people with no eyes? It was weak, neat to look at, but poor writing. The bomb is large enough to kill every one of those girls (it had better kill Kennedy).

Over all it was nice to see the non-Buffy team finally do something, they had not done anything (even with Buffy) for weeks.

I am sorry I am all over the place, but work keeps interrupting me, what is the deal with that!:p

I definitely wish that the original core cast were more 'in-the-game', so to speak. Xander and Willow deserve much more screen-time (well, I suppose I should say, deserved)...whenever they're on, the show is better. Every utterance out of Kennedy's mouth is a line wasted, IMHO, and better spent with one of the scoobs.

I wouldn't agree that they've done nothing, though. Xander did save the world, after all. I had hoped that with Giles around more, he'd have more to do than look tired, which is most of what he's done. Last year, he was barely there, but when he was around (last two episodes), it was solid gold.

This year, he's mostly just sleepwalking as a character. That's not the best use of a lot of good characters, IMHO. The only saving grace is the introduction of Andrew as a regular, the only consistent comic relief all season (and what a shock that turned out to be, to me).
