Buffy: Riley?

I haven't seen the whole series since I started watching late, and I've only seen a few episodes with Riley from the Initiative. What ended up happening to him? When and why did he leave the show?

This probably doesn't need them, but I'll spoil anyway.

Upset with Buffy's lack of devotion and feeling insecure, Riley turned to vampire hookers as a cheap thrill. Thanks to an overly informative Spike, Buffy tracked down the hooker who was feeding on him, dusted her, and confronted Riley. They were unable to settle their differences and broke up. Riley rejoined the army as leader of a new anti-magical threat strike team (one that *wasn't* involved in magical experiments), and later got married to a female agent. He and Buffy later reconciled, and he remains a friendly ex-boyfriend.

This occurred in Season 5, with a single guest apperance in Season Six. Mark Blucas, the actor who played Riley Finn, has gone on to do a lot of movies.

No...he is not, along the way, Riley finds his perfect companion, who has the same interest...kicking monsters butts.

To elaborate a bit on what Mulhorand Sage said:

Riley wasn't sleeping with vampire hookers; the vampires would feed off humans in exchange for money, which would give the humans a high. Although it's fair to say Riley was cheating on Buffy, they both recognized that the problem between them was that Buffy didn't really open up to him or ever really count on him for support or anything. She never needed him for anything. Joss said that Riley was supposed to be the nice guy boyfriend who Buffy just walks all over.

When she finds out Riley's cheated on her, Buffy isn't sure what to do. Riley tells her that the military wants him back, and that he wants to go, but he'd rather stay with her, and he'll stay if she asks him to. After talking with Xander, Buffy realizes that she wants to give Riley another chance, and goes after Riley. She's too late, though, and Riley leaves. When Buffy does see Riley again, he's married.

Did he actually ever show up on Angel? Just metioned with his new squad on one of the episodes?
For some reason I keep thinking Angel knew about Riley and at some point they had big macho issues as typical of any current/x fling of Buffy's Angel meets.

Riley never showed up on Angel, but Angel showed up on Buffy and had a... discussion with Riley. That was in Buffy season 4.
