Buffy Spoilers 11/12

You know ... this is what I've missed. The speculation.

I was a dyed-in-the-wool spoiler fiend starting from mid-4th Season all the way through 6th. I swore I'd be spoiler free for 7th, and so far, I have been. I've only got the previews to go on.

And it's fun ... trying to figure out what might happen from only what I've seen (BTW, great observation about the First Evil/Dead only ... very good. He might also not have picked Tara beacuse he couldn't have played her convincingly enough to Willow for Willow to believe it...or it may have been a scheduling issue IRL...).

And honestly, I think I ruined some things for myself a little. I wasn't entirely happy with some of Season Five and Six, eppies I was spoiled for, but when watching them again later, were better than I had given them credit for. I think knowing too much did ruin my enjoyment, even though I was swearing up and down at the time that it didn't. :)

I hate spoiling stuff for myself, personally. Ever since the episode of Babylon 5 where they killed Kosh, and I found out ahead of time because someone forgot to put a spoiler warning on their post. So I had to wait four days and not reveal it to my friends, who all looked like a bus had hit them when the episode was over. And I didn't get the same impact, because I knew it was coming. The suprise is half the fun, for me.

I was just watching Restless (The dream episode at the end of season 4) this morning on FX and It got me thinking. The whole inner conflict between being alone, being the slayer and having her freinds and being a girl. And again in 'conversations' a big chunk of it is buffy's inner turmoil of being the Slayer and having freinds. She talks to the first slayer...who is all kill...maim...destroy. Sent to kill them all because the spell they did offended the 'source' of that Power. Just got me thinking.

What if the First Evil is just the 'little bad' part of the story to get events into motion to bring about the 'big bad'? What if the Big bad is Buffy? Would make sence to try to stop Joyce from warning Dawn about being opposed. Would make sence to try to get rid of buffy's best freind -Willow both because of the magic power she wields, but also the power of being a frind to buffy a tie that keeps her from being more the slayer.

There was a part in restless where buffy puts on the mask of mud and Riley mentions "killer" A term buffy hates because of the implications of evil. The same scene it applies that she chose that over looking for her lost friends. The scene where she later walks into the desert makes mention of her frinds not being there and Tara (as interpreter - Evil source of slayer power?) says "of course, that's why you came here")

And of course the line "You think you know what is to come, what you are...you haven't even begun."

I'm just really excited about this season and the direction its going. It started all this way back at the beginning of season 5...even in Restless. But all got drailed when Buffy's mom got sick and died. And of cource the aingst-fest that was last season.

If Buffy is going to be bad it would be a great mirroring of what is going to happen on Angel and be a very good reason to bring Faith in.

Just rambling.

I posted a modified form of this on the Scoopme! boards yesterday...

I called "Bull" on all three visitations...

I have to take my stance here with all those who called all three of the plotlines as being initiated by the first evil - Dawn's visitation by Ma Summers, Spike's rampant siring, and the obvious Cassie/Willow visitation.

I might be surprised, but I think that a great deal of planning went into trying to divide and conquer the major heroes here - I wouldn't be surprised if in a near future episode we find Xander also had a "creepy" experience and distrusts one of the others (say, Buffy) as a result.

To me, (and this is just me), Dawn won her exorcism a little TOO easily - are we to believe she is as powerful a witch as tara or Willow, after only a short while? It seemed to be all to convince her that the person angelically appearing before her was her mom, because she had to struggle to "win" it. Give us what we want with no strongs, and we look the gift horse in the mouth; but if we have to FIGHT for it...

Same with the other two. The only thing is, the First Evil (if this is what it is) vastly underestimated Willow, and admitted as such - "Funny, but you seemed like the type." (The line about the Indigo Girls playing cracked me up!) This was the screw-up that will be its undoing - or was it yet another plot? :-)

Finally, Buffy actually needed the psych session, which I enjoyed seeing - it is true, sometimes, a stranger with a willing ear can help you get a better viewpoint on your own life, rather than someone personally involved in you. Will Buffy take her newfound knowledge to heart? I hope so - sounds like she made some real headway.

The scenes with Spike - now THAT set off a few Roman candles! My mind is frankly racing with far too much stuff right now, and not enough info. Darn you, Joss, I'm glued slavishly to my TV set Tuesday nights!

According to usenet, they couldn't get the contract with Amber Benson worked out for this ep. It's a shame, becuase it has been rumored since the end of last season that "Amber will be back, but not as Tara". The part done by cassie was originally intended for Tara.

What IF Buffy is really living in her imagination (like in that one episode last season)? That episode had really got me thinking, really shaken with how it was done. What if that was how it really was? Not that I believe it.. just wanted to throw something different out there. ;)
