Buffy Spoilers 11/12

He is also a brand new vamp, just crawling out of the grave. I am no genius on the topic, but I have to assume that vamps get more powerful with age. They learn to master their powers, moods and urges. She shuold have kicked his buttocks real good.

But that never happens. She always take her shots, no matter if she fits the new vamps or the ageless gods and everyone in between. Occasionally, they show here are amazing (like when she tossed the sword and killed that Spider Demon), but that is rare.

I just had a thought about the First Evil, assuming that is indeed who/what we're dealing with.

Who have seen it manifest as? (Some of these are possible, not confirmed, of course.)

Warren, Glory, Adam, the Mayor, Drucilla, the Master, Spike, Cassandra, Jenny Calendar, Joyce Summers, maybe the psych major vampire, and Buffy herself.

Maybe someone who remembers the Season 3 episode more clearly than I do can remind me if it took the form of anyone but Jenny in that ep; I don't think so...

Now, anyone beside me see the connection between all these people?

They've all died.

Unless I'm forgetting someone--which is, I'll admit, possible--the First Evil has never (to our knowledge) manifested as a normal, living human being. They're all dead, undead, or--in Buffy's case--returned from the dead.

Not saying it necessarily means anything. Just something I thought was kind of interesting. And knowing Joss, it might mean something.

Wow, that is a trying interesting and accute observation. My hat is off to you, literally. Excellent work, I really like that idea.

Good Thinking, Mouseferatu.

I was just talking about it with some friends and I am absolutely convincded that it is the First Evil here. Tonight episode was exactly it's style. When we saw it back in season two it tried to achieve it's goals through manipulation. And here it was trying to convince Willow to kill herself, Dawn to turn against Buffy and Andrew to sacrifice Johnathan. In all cases it was trying to get someone to do it's work for it, never acting directly.

Personally, I am ecstatic to see a Big Bad this subtle an manipulative. It should make for an interesting season.

for the luv of Pete.....

Okay, I'm totally brain-dead here.

The First Evil was in season 2? I own that season's DVD set and can't for the life of me remember which episode that was or exactly was happened. Matter-o-fact, I didn't even remember there was a 1st Evil. A little help for a forgetful, long-time Buffy fan? :)

It was season 3 actually. Amends was the title of the episode. It dealt with Angel's past as old ghosts haunted him. It was the Christmas episode that year.

Ah! It's slowly coming back to me, now. Thanks! That season 2 thing was driving me nuts considering I just watched the whole thing recently....

No problem. If you ever need episode help goto buffyguide.com they have the best synopsis of any place I've been. Not sure how up to date they are, I haven't checked on the new episodes yet.

Very cool. Now, I have another resource to add to my bookmarks. :)

I think I may actually just wait for the season 3 DVD's to refresh my memory so I don't remember exactly what happened (and am thusly more entertained). They are only a couple months away and that's not too long a wait considering there are probably only 4-5 Buffy eps left before the Holiday break.

I wish I'd noticed this board before cause this is exactly what I've been thinking. Everyone that this thing works the strings of are dead or undead. Some are easy to manipulate, like Warren who was evil when he was alive or Joyce, you was just a Mom. I think it couldn't control Tara (because of the powers she had when alive and her love for Willow), so it sent the girl that died a few episodes ago to make it seem like Tara was talking to Willow... the blonde girl was really so sweet in life, who'd think she'd act evil when dead? And don't forget the three dead people from the season opener...I definately think what ever is the baddie this time has some place in or control over the realm of the dead.
About Dawn, she may be "The Key", but she was also made from Buffy, so she most likely has some of Buffy's abilities... or will.
As for Spike, he's still undead, so he might be under control... he spent enough time in the school basement. If fact, it's just now that he's left the basement, that we see him biting someone.... weird. Also, he bit the girl, but was the scene long enough to show if the chip does hurt him. They just might have left that out to make people wonder. Either that or, like someone else said, he has a personality that's immune to the chip OR the evil that's controling him can override that chip.
Whoever that baddie is, it's most definately cunning to try to cause dissention in the ranks. And, I think that fact that Xander knows all about the building of the new school will come in very handy.
Ah, it feels so good to finally talk about this episode to other fans. ;)
