Buffy Spoilers 11/12

I thought the sequences with Joyce/Dawn/Monster were some of the best I've seen. Made me squirmy, wanting to look away 'cause I was afraid to see Joyce being hurt!

And great character development for Dawn. Very impressed.

I'm betting that it's not Spike. The FBYID (From Beneath You, It Devours) needs to split up this group to do what it needs to do. It's trying to screw with Buffy's head, get Willow to take herself out, and make Dawn believe she's all alone. All three are the major power centers in Sunnydale - not that Xander, Anya and the rest don't add something to the mix, but it's Buffy. Willow and Dawn with the mojo.

Here's my official guess as to how the season will end: I think Buffy will end up evil. I wouldn't put it past Whedon, who constantly throws curve balls at the viewers. If Sarah Michelle Gellar is definitely quitting the role after this season, what better way to have her go out? Plus, the final form of the shapeshifting entity (that took the forms of the Master, Warren, Adam, etc.) from the season opener was that of Buffy herself. A bit of foreshadowing? Now we have Mrs. Summers telling Dawn that Buffy will be against her at the end. Buffy's already the "oldest" of the Slayers, right? (Don't they all die really young?) If no Slayer's ever lived as long as she has in the role, maybe this sort of thing is inevitable: kind of a "battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster" deal.

I'm guessing that if they do decide to have a "Dawn the Vampire Slayer" show next season, they'll go ahead and "burn the Buffy bridge" behind them. No safety net that way.

Mind you, I've been wrong before.

And getting back to tonight's episode: GAAAAH! They killed Jonathan! NOOOOO! He was a great character (and the world can never have too many Jonathans, no matter how they spell their name). :)

Well, unless he somehow got rid of that chip that causes him pain, it's not him. So, I don't think it's him. Interesting though if it isn';t, it means the One Beneath can make vampires.

Right! The chip! Eureka! They made a big deal about it earlier in the season when he hit the girl's boyfriend (the boyfriend that was a worm for a while), specifically to show us that even with soul, he still had the chip!

Oh, now the previews for next week look even more evil. Poor Spike, he'll have no idea why everyone is afraid of him.

Saw an interesting theory on usenet, that the vampire Buffy was speaking to /was/ the One Beneath, pretending to be a vampire so he could mess with Buffy. It could work either way.

While Dawn is the Key and whatever that means, I wonder if they will show that she has some power or can take advantage of that in some way.

Good point on the OB being that guy. It would make sense as to why she talked to him.

What did the previews look like? My station never shows them. :(

What intrigues me is next weeks angel and then this. I almost cried seeing Johnathen died. He was actually a good guy underneath it all. A redeemable villian.

What makes me wonder is what it said to Willow. "After this, Last Year is going to be a cake walk when im finished with you."

Who could it be? Its hinting that we already seen it. It said its shedding it mortal coil. GLORY!!??

Well, was that really Joyce, or the One Benath really messing with Dawn's head?

Good question. I guess only time will tell, but I was sold on the fact that Joyce was wreathed in a beam of "holy light."

Maybe I'm just gullible. :)

Right, but you'd think the real Joyce would stay a little longer instead of saying one daughter will betray the other and then bolt. I also imagine the "Holy Light" would be simple to mimic for something that seems to mimic anyone at will.

I think everyone we saw in the episode was being messed with by the Thing that Lurks in the Basement. Possibly even Spike -- what if the girl he bit wasn't really a girl at all? That might be a good way to separate Spike from all the others.
