building a bard

but under bard it says they use arcane spells theyre spells that are also under cleric and wizard spells. Im not talking about the bard songs im talking about the actual spells. if theyre arcane and from the same schools as wizard and cleric why cant silent spell be used?

bard spell list but theyre all wiard/cleric/bard level 0 spells. I know a cleric the same spells are considered holy. but under bard class it specifically states their spells are considered arcane. so why cant a bard use a feat that helps every other spell caster when he uses spells from the same source?

Bards are a class which depend on invoking the magical powers of music to create supernatural effects and they can't silence themselves otherwise they get cut off from the source of their power.

Or something like that.

Here is what happens in simple, mechanical terms.

1. Is your class Bard?
2. If the answer is yes, then you cannot apply the Silent Spell feat to your spells.

Bards do suck, as they should. A musician & storyteller shouldn't be able to hold his own with trained combat experts and spellcasters. And that's part of the allure in 3.5 edition, at least --in a game where CharOp was taken to a new level, it's a fun challenge for the pros to try to make a decent bard.

Bards rock. So play music.. inspiring music.

Breaking Down Inspire Courage Optimization, Handbook Edition

Basically: Improve your Inspire Courage ability with everything available. Inspirational Boost (SPC), Badge of Valor (MIC), Words of Creation (BoED), Masterwork Lute (CSc).

Depending on the reading of your DM of the feat Words of Creation your inspire courage will be ranging +6 to +8. Nothing to sneeze at.

Personally I'm playing a Rogue2/Bard5 (heading for Rogue 2/Bard7/Druid1/Fochlucan Lyrist X). I love it.

Basically, at 8th level, you have a +2 bonus from Inspire Courage from your class.

Inspirational Boost, Badge of Valor, and the Song of the Heart feat, all boost it by 1. So +3 total.

A Masterwork Horn boosts accuracy and damage by 1, but imposes a -2 penalty on saves vs fear.

Words of Creation doubles your IC bonus. RAW, it just doubles things. RAI might have been to double the bonus you get from classes, but there's no way of knowing that.

So your new IC bonus for an 8th level bard is either 2*2+3+1 or (2+3+1)*2 which results in a +8 or +12 respectively.
