Bards are a class which depend on invoking the magical powers of music to create supernatural effects and they can't silence themselves otherwise they get cut off from the source of their power.
Or something like that.
Here is what happens in simple, mechanical terms.
1. Is your class Bard?
2. If the answer is yes, then you cannot apply the Silent Spell feat to your spells.
Bards do suck, as they should. A musician & storyteller shouldn't be able to hold his own with trained combat experts and spellcasters. And that's part of the allure in 3.5 edition, at least --in a game where CharOp was taken to a new level, it's a fun challenge for the pros to try to make a decent bard.okay now im back in thinking bards suck ill just roll another wizard
Quite frankly, this has only applied when people don't know how to build bards.Bards do suck, as they should.
You'd think so, but when "trained combat experts" include monks and samurai...A musician & storyteller shouldn't be able to hold his own with trained combat experts and spellcasters.
