Building an OCHRE JELLY

So, i want to build a large ochre jelly for an adventure. Something big and creepy and nasty, that looks sort of like this:

I thought i would appeal to the creativity of Enworlders to help me. Any idea of how to go about this? A semi-transparent blob.

Make a shotglass size serving of flan.
Insert two blue candy dots for its eyes.
Carve out the mouth, then partially freeze it.
Fill the mouth with Magic shell hardening chocolate syrup.
Carmel syrup on top.

I'm sorry, but the Final fantasy slimes have not been scary since the Marsh Cave.

To make a clear slime, resin casting would be needed. Although if tranparency is not a high priority, melting a candle over a wire frame makes nice slimes.

Step 5 was add blue ink to clear Aleens glue and slop over fig. The usual ink and clear gloss was not sticking to the wax. Aleen's clear glue is slime in its own right and helpful for making these things.

You rock frank! A full tutorial on a slime-building was just what i needed. Many thanks!

Edit: and your ochre jelly slime sounds delicious.

Ho-lee crap. Those look really, really good. Maybe too involved for what i wanted to do, but damn, they look good.

Actually, i've been clicking around that entire Herst molds site, and i'm dumbfounded by how good those models look. I image it can get pricey and highly time intensive though, but that stuff looks great. If only i were rich...and didn't work.

Not sure how big you need it, but you can also make a rough form out of tin foil and cover the thing in clear silicone caulk. Stick a couple of beads in just as it starts for firm up, which should be withing minutes. Then just pull the foil out.

You can coat the whole thing with a little stain glass paint I think. Not sure how well the silicone will take it though its basically just more stained rubber anyway.

I hope it works out.

I hit Michael's yesterday and bought multiple ooze-making accessories. I'll post some pics when i get done. Keep in mind that i'm taking the short and cheap route, so they'll look nowhere as good as some of the pics in this thread.

btw, that tinfoil and silicone idea is pretty good, i might try that. A little orange dye and that might make a semi-transparent ochre jelly.

So, here's the jellies i made. I bought some stuff called Crayola Modermagic Fusion, which is just a spongy clay that air dries. The blue one had little sparkles in it, for the blue slime. I mounted it on an old square base, shaped it the way i wanted it, gave it some little tentacles, and then dripped a copious amount of Aleen's Clear Gel Tacky Glue over the whole thing and let it dry. I also added some blue ink for darker streaks.

Total Time Expended: About 10 minutes. Super easy. It's pretty resilient too. The spongy body bends, and the glue gives it some protection. I threw it against the wall and it didn't break.

I tried something different with the ochre jellies: I melted orange wax in a pan, and then mixed with the Clear Tacky glue, then shaped them into globs and glued them to a base. I added some colored inks for a little distinction, and then covered with a fresh layer of tacky glue for that slimy shine.

Again, they only took a few minutes to create. The little squat one is actually hard as a rock, just a nugget of wax and glue. I think they turned out pretty well, and will suffice for actual monsters plunked on the game board.

I tried a third experiment as someone suggested, with silicone and foil. I wrapped tinfoil around my finger for a mold, and tried to fill it with clear silicone caulk that was tinted with orange die. I tried to put some Pam-no stick in there first, but it adhered to the foil pretty well anyway and just made a mess.

Mission failed on that one. I still would like to create a transparent ooze with the caulk though, i just don't know how to mold it correctly to allow it to dry. It would have had orange swirls through it.
