bull rush

I've been practicing some of the 3.x combat options with my players. With bull rush - do you need a running start at all? Can you bull rush an oppoent through a square with a friend (since you can move through squares with friends)? Through a square with an enemy? What happens if there is a wall behind the person you bullrush?

No. Also, you could move around your opponent to bull rush him from another direction.

No. Your opponent cannot move through the square and the bull rush would stop there. Exactly what happens is not clear in the rules, though the Rules of the Game offered more detail on it IIRC. Another factor in this is that you may be able to move through a friendly square, but you cannot fight effectively in that square, and bull rushing someone is IMO fighting them. Thus, I would not allow it.

No, same reasoning.

Technically, you just don't move. The Rules of the Game suggest, however, that the victim ends up prone.

The relevant rules quotes on this are:

Ending Your Movement
You can’t end your movement in the same square as another creature unless it is helpless.

Accidentally Ending Movement in an Illegal Space
Sometimes a character ends its movement while moving through a space where it’s not allowed to stop. When that happens, put your miniature in the last legal position you occupied, or the closest legal position, if there’s a legal position that’s closer.

Pretty close.

After getting shoved into the wall, pokey hero has three other adjacent squares he can end up in, all with equal chances.

Frank, in the future you should type out the text and not include it in the images, unless of course your goal is to not be easily quotable. The problem I have with it is the assumption that an evil cleric has a movement of 40ft. C'mon! He should be wearing heavy armor and doesn't likely have a haste effect. :)

But he did have 10' to initiate a charge...
