Ahh, my annual attempt at splainin' Burning Man...

Get about 40,000 people together in an essentially featureless desert. Mix a healthy dose of techno-freakism with liberal amounts of fire. Pour all the weird you kind find over it, and at the end- after a week of radical community building- burn the Man, who is the centerpiece.

www.burningman.com is your starting point, but the event is something that I have never been able to describe, even after spending years trying.

ok i can understand the attraction... however the 12 hour flight to the stats not to mention the price will stop me from going. have fun

I've been wanting to go since I first heard of it years ago, but sadly I've never been able to afford it. And this year is no exception.

Seriously, there's more fire there than I have ever seen anywhere else. Big, sexy fire.

It's a blast, and if you go, be prepared to be immersed in living, breathing weird.
