We get a lot of 1 season shows
To be fair, I can't fault a network for catering to its bottom line. It gets a certain slate of shows, and it tries them out. the ones that make-eth the monies go on and get renewed, and the ones that don't die on the vine.
This isn't firefly either where the network put the show on in the wrong order and all of the other crap that hindered the show. Academy got fair press and promotion, it wasn't "hidden from the world" or anything like that. It just didn't cut the mustard.
Its sad for me because I did think the show was decent (it was no Strange New Worlds, but I think it was a decent star trek show), but I can respect that it probably wasn't going to be the next big Star Trek hit...and its ok to let it die.
Yeah, I agree.
It really is too bad, because IMO the first season was significantly better than Picard, better than Discovery, and only a bit behind Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds in quality.
I was not particularly looking forward to the 32nd century setting - but the show made it work well.
