Yeah, I've seen "woke," and "divisive," - which are ridiculous.

I hope the show runner/writers at least had some idea before filming finished so they can do a decent wrap up. But looking like probably not.
Yup. It's not like whole regions didn't ban the showing of Star Trek: TOS episodes.

They're getting one more season, then they're done. Cancelled. Of course the rags are trucking out the "woke" comments, however, Star Trek has always been woke.
Ya, I saw this, and am disappointed. I'm guessing I won't like what the new owners do to Star Trek.....Hard to believe it might be ending like this.

Tachyon Pulse says they had some inkling and shot accordingly. He has been stating that it was going to be canceled all along.

I think this means Kurtzman did not get renewed. I am ok with it. He has been very hit and miss since he stopped working with Orci.

Hasn’t the entire ragebait Star Trek YouTube community? It’s no different to the D&D one or the Star Wars one or the Doctor Who one. It’s all the same stuff. There’s no YouTube money in being positive about things. YouTube is the one place I avoid like the plague for my fandoms.

He seems middle of the road to me.

Except the new owners of ST agree..... I also avoid YT for fan stuff.

The stated reasons for the cancellation was ratings. At no time was Season 1 of Starfleet Academy in the top ten of Nielsen streaming rankings, so outnit goes.

Those who didn't like a Klingon in a skirt will read into it, of course.

If every show has to be top ten to be renewed, I don't know how we have any shows.

We get a lot of 1 season shows :)

To be fair, I can't fault a network for catering to its bottom line. It gets a certain slate of shows, and it tries them out. the ones that make-eth the monies go on and get renewed, and the ones that don't die on the vine.

This isn't firefly either where the network put the show on in the wrong order and all of the other crap that hindered the show. Academy got fair press and promotion, it wasn't "hidden from the world" or anything like that. It just didn't cut the mustard.

Its sad for me because I did think the show was decent (it was no Strange New Worlds, but I think it was a decent star trek show), but I can respect that it probably wasn't going to be the next big Star Trek hit...and its ok to let it die.
