Rel,

As I have mentioned several times, I cannot go to the NC Game Day. You guys always have it on bad weekends for me. I have to attend a class with my fiance that day.

Besides, I cannot stand RPGA games.

Dave

No problem, Dave. I didn't mean to badger you about it and I'm sorry if I missed the fact that you already said you couldn't attend. I've got a terrible memory.

I will note that, as Joshua Dyal said, ENWorld Game Days (ours at least) have absolutely nothing to do with the RPGA. These are strictly GM's running home brew one-shot games or the occasional module. It's totally informal.

Again, sorry you can't make it. But I'm sure that there will be more NC Game Days in the future. And, if you think it would help take some of the pressure to DM off of you for a bit, go ahead and point your players to the game day thread.

Actually, I did mention the game day to them. I am not sure if any of them were interested.

I wonder if anyone has ever considered creating a web site for NC Game Days.....

I used to try and keep the Chicago Gameday info on a site separate from EN World (just in case of a server crash, or something) and it got next to no traffic at all. Seems having the info in the first post seemed to do just fine. I did, though, put up pictures elsewhere and link to them, just to keep from using too much EN bandwidth. :)

So far nobody has talked about doing a web site. I lack the technical know-how and thus far the ENWorld threads seem to have managed ok. But if you or someone you know is into web page design, I'm sure it could only help our planning efforts.

If you feel like mentioning NCGD to your players again, great. If not, no problem. Also, just in case you weren't aware, our morning slot runs until 2:00 and the afternoon slot goes from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. So if your class with your fiance isn't an all day affair, feel free to come for only part of the day.

In the interests of not further hijacking this thread, this is the last I'll say about NCGD here.

How often do most of you DM?

It's only once every two weeks for me. Thats pretty much all I can handle, plus due to RL thats about the only time my players can do it.

By the end of two weeks it feels like a lifetime and I'm crazy, wicked, ready to game again. Perhaps its only playing twice a month thats kept me going for so long becuase I feel no pain.

I was a burned out DM. My solution:

1) Joined another D&D game to play in where the players are different than the players in the game I ran.

2) Drink lots of beer :)

There's a big difference, BU, between mentioning that they are free to GM and asking them to GM so that you can have a break.

Do they know you're tired of GMing? Tell them. Don't beat around the bush or give them hints, just say, "Guys, I'm getting pretty burnt out running these games all the time. It would be a big help for me if one of you would run a one-shot adventure every now and then, just so I can have some relaxation time and enjoy gaming."

I was in the same position you were in. I had to bug my players for nearly a year before anybody started a campaign, but eventually somebody did. It gives me a break, teaches my players something about how much work I do on my campaign, and generally helps out a lot.

But you have to ask for it.
