Bursting Weapon Enchantments

First Post
In the discription of the bursting weapon enchantments (using Flaming Burst as an example) it says

A Flaming Burst weapon functions as a Flaming weapon that also explodes with flame upon striking a succesful critical hit.

So my question is, does this mean that a Flaming Burst weapon is also automatically a Flaming weapon? Wouldn't this make the Psionic Psychokinetic Burst ability too weak for its +2? Would it be balancing to make Psychokinetic Burst include the "Charged" ability for free?

Yes. From the DMG errata...

p. 186 and 188, Regarding “Flaming” and “Flaming Burst” descriptions on page 186, and “Flame Tongue”
description on page 188:
Flame Tongue is described as being a “+1 flaming longsword (+1d6 points
of fire damage with each hit) [that] is also a flaming burst weapon
(+1d10 points of bonus fire damage on a critical).”
CHANGE the Market price to: 18,315 gp
Also, REPLACE the quoted text above with:
This is a +1 flaming burst longsword (+1d6 points of fire damage with each hit, +1d10 points of bonus fire
damage on a critical; see flaming burst, above).

Not in my opinion. As far as I know, there is no such thing as Energy Resistance: Destructive Psionic Energy.

Wow, thanks. Not only was that one of the few useful things that I have gleaned from these boards, but it was a reply from Kreynolds, the only person I've seen a thread about on here. Coolness.

And as for the Psychokinetic Burst, i figured i should just ask, though I figured that that was the answer anywho.

If there was an appropriate blush emoticon, you'd see it right here. Thanks. :)

I really dig that weapon enhancement. Every time I read it, it makes me wanna create a Psychic Warrior as my next character. But, as always, I then remember that I would actually need to learn the rules of psionics, so I run away screaming. :D

What's so complex about psionics? It's not really that complex... just annoying sometimes. And from what i've read at Monte Cooks site, the Q&A with Bruce Cordell, he had intended it to be much simpler.

I looooove psionics.:D

at least someone agrees with me

people love psionics too much, can't we just stick with magic instead of going into another thing which is basically the same thing, just a different system with different words:rolleyes:

Psionics just has a more... exotic feel to it. When I read the 3ed PH for the first time (my first first D&D product ever), I was drawn to the Sorcerer's exoticness as a character. When I read through the Psionics Handbook, I saw the Psion and Psychic Warrior as a reflection of something that I had been working on by myself for a long time before ever seeing D&D. It's just cool.

And that's why it's optional. When properly done it has a completely different feel, but then again so does Divine and Arcane magic.

I think that perhaps the Psychokinetic Burst ability should be downgraded to d8s of damage, and include the Charged ability. That would provide balance with the magic equivalents (flaming and so on) - less damage, but without worrying about elemental resistances.
