[C&C] Holy Smokes ... I'm REALLY Impressed!

So, for ENW purposes, C&C is D&D, but not d20? Cool. :)

That’s how I view it. Castles and Crusades is very much a D&D system, much like AD&D and d20 are. The only differences are that it is put out by another company and doesn’t carry the D&D name because of that. It’s a little different, but at its core, it has everything that makes D&D great. C&C is a D&D system in spirit, if not in name.

It certainly feels very different from d20 Modern/Grim Tales/Iron Heroes et al, I can see a good case that it's more appropriate to discuss C&C here than in the d20 forum.

I would agree, though that’s inevitably up to our esteemed moderators.

I seem to be doing this alot lately. Maybe it's time to take a break from the boards for a while...
Or maybe just stick to threads that contain topics that interest you more. Err, more than C&C appears to.

It really depends on the nature of the post. There is a thread going strong in this forum on Serenity.

I think since the OP was talking about "discovering" C&C its allowed here. If we were to be talking about rules and such, starting with the OP, then in would probably be moved to the d20 forum.

But yeah, C&C is just another form of D&D, considering how many D&D books I use when I run my C&C game sessions. So for me C&C=D&D.

So, this thread has me basically 100% sure I'd like to use C&C. I have a copy of the 1st print run (yeah, the one with the bad editing, etc) but I'm unclear about...some stuff. I'm not sure if I understand what I'm not understanding, so I'll likely wait until I get a copy of the 2nd printing to ask more questions (or, even better, just sign up over at Troll Lords' forums and ask there). But to start...

I have a dragon shaman in my group. Can C&C handle the 'auras' that he generates? How would that work?

Which book is Dragon Shaman in? Yes, sign up for the C&C forums.

Plus are you looking for just doing a "liter" version of 3E? I ask because if you switch to using the SIEGE engine you can pretty much eliminate feats since, essentially, everyone can attempt many of them. Feats, for me, is just a way to give a permanent character ability/skill/bonus as an award.

#1 - Dragon Shaman is in the Player's HB 2.

#2 - I just signed up an hour ago. ;)

#3 - I'm looking to C&C because I absolutely hate the combat in 3.5, to the point where I no longer want to run games--too much detail, too much minutia. If I hear the expression "five foot step" or "attack of opportunity" one more time, I'm going to hang myself.

C&C seems less like it offers a (boring) college course in economics and more like fast & furious battle. Initiative, did you hit (yes/no), how much damage--that's it. I can add more details if I want, but that's the basics.

I've offered to buy, out of my own pocket, the C&C Player's book for each member of my group if they agree to use it.

Actually, there are the C&C 'special abilities' each class can do. The dragon shaman's aura is just another one of those.

I answered my own question, just by looking at the C&C rules, so I think that's the game engine I need to use. ;)

Cool. 3E is very useable with 3E. You just need to change how some mechanics are used/approached, etc... Not hard once you decide how you want to do it.

Eh. More like, I looked at the dragon shaman, saw that the auras are "special abilities" of the class and then noticed that the standard classes in C&C also have....why, yes...."special abilities". Doesn't take a brainiac. I was making it more hard than I needed to.
