I found a brand new copy at Gen Con for 40.00. I couldn't believe it. The damn things are going for as high as 100.00 on Ebay.

Needless to say, I am now running a d20 Cthulhu game. :)

Ha Ha! I got mine on Ebay for $15. The seller didn't know what he had.

Just posted this in another thread but thought it was relevant here...90% of what was in the Call of Cthulhu book is available in other books.

* The insanity rules are available here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/sanity.htm

* The spells were all adapted to the Book of Vile Darkness almost verbatim, sans stat drains.

* DNDChick's page has conversions of all the monsters: http://members.aol.com/CountryGrrlHere/cofcd20.html. DNDChick didn't agree with most of how Cthulhu monsters were statted up. After using them for some time in my D&D campaign, I have to agree with her -- use DNDChick's stuff, it's better than what's in the book.

* That leaves the Cthulhu gods. Try this older page for their statistics: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/kengage/cthulhu/cthulhu.html

* Weapons, armor, equipment you can get from D20 Modern: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/msrd

I've heard the DM advice is also pretty good - is there also a source for that?

(But I guess compiling from the web is better than having nothing)

I picked up a copy brand new for ~$15 (USD) - which ranks up there with several sales this year, and getting Second Sight for $10 (USD), for that matter. :D

There are still cheap copies out there. A bit of hunting, and yeah, no problem.

Has anyone statted up Sherlock Holmes for d20 CoC? I got inspired from Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened for PC:

Here's a link to a post containing some Cthulhu by Gaslight conversions I did for d20 CoC (four Victorian Era Professions) which includes a consulting detective profession (as well as aristocrat, street arab and official police):

In fact, there are some little gems in the thread that comes from, so I'll link it here as well (the whole thread is worth the read IMO):

I love all things Lovecraft, and would love to do some supplements which would work with Cthulhu D20, but honestly I don't know what the legal situation is with Lovecraft's works.

Gareth, do you think you could email me and maybe we could discuss it?

There's an excellent summation of the issue under "Intellectual Property" in the wikipedia entry for H.P. Lovecraft. It hits all of the relevant points, with accompanying links.

If you'd like to discuss further, drop me a line.

Short answer, stay away from anything that appears solely in a Chaosium product.
