Calling all Guild Warriors

I made the hop over to grab some Heroes from Nightfall, they're a great improvement over Henchmen, not sure if they're too much of a boost. Heck though, just the ability to give some of them ressurection instead of the signet is helpfull. :)
Heroes are nice in that you can equip them with weapons, off-hand items, runes and skills - all of your choosing. Plus, they level very quickly to keep pace with your primary character. All great benefits in comparison to the take-what-you-get, don't-follow-orders Henchies

I have an Ele in Prophecies, who just needs to complete the last couple of missions in the Ring of Fire isles. He often helps out others with missions or quests as they need (Just the PvE Drok's Run in particular is incredibly brutal, and I keep tweaking my guy for this one.) He has also reached the Mainland in NF, but only visits Kaineng City in Factions to purchase items for other characters. He is also my Farmer during events where you need to pick up a lot of collectables (candy cane shards during Wintersday, for example.) With big Area of Attack spells, he can toast 20+ orcs in a few seconds outside the Ruins of Surmia.

I have a Ritualist in Factions, who's still on "Noob" island. If you plan on going PvE, Ritualists need a lot of Henchie/PUG support, since they can get clobbered while casting their lengthy spells (and they have light armor.) This guy is probably going to be retired to "Mule" status once I complete the campaign.

Lastly, I have a Warrior/Ranger in NF who's just about to leave the "Noob" island. I'm actually enjoying playing a "dumb fighter" much more than I thought I would. Plus the fact that my Ele was able to sneak her an awesome looking Zodiac sword recently doesn't hurt ;)

I always found melee pretty interesting in GW. From what I remember, there's a nice variety of warrior skills out there. But really, I picked my class based on the high-level armor, and Warriors definitely had my favorite.

Speaking of Candy Cane Shards... how do you actually use those?

Someone told me they can be used to lower death penalty, but I havn't figured out how they are activated yet. ;)

The shards were used during the Wintersday festival for two different purposes.

One use was trading with collectors for Candycane weapons (and holiday shields and focus items.)

The other use was for betting during the Wintersday Finale - the Gods Grenth and Dwana would select a circle on a "board", and the sum total of candy cane shards in the possession of people on that circle determined the "winner" of each round (and winners got full blown Candy Canes and/or other gifts.)

After Wintersday... uh, the shards can be salvaged for glittering dust :\

Peppermint candy canes remove 15% of a death penalty. Wintergreen ones remove all of it. Rainbow candy canes remove 15% for the entire party. People will probably start selling these mid-summer for ridiculous prices.

Myself, I missed this last weekend's Chinese New Year celebration Finale, so I'm stuck with a bunch of lunar tokens I didn't get to exchange for anything.

I wasn't far enough along in Prophecies to join the Lions Arch festivities. I traded for a few gifts, but didn't know that "save them for later!" meant the stuff at LA. So I'm stuck with lots of them, which I could have sold for decent money at the time. Luckily I got a White Dye and Black Dye drop during some missions, so I'm decent for money now.

I completely missed New Years, sometimes I work out of town for the weekends and this was one such.

It's disappointing that the "main city" for Prophecies is halfway through the game (Lions Arch) compared to Nightfall being the first real city. Materials storage is handy, but changing to a PC that has it (when I'm doing a new Prophecy character to tinker with) is a pain.

Ah, that must be why then. So you needed to find/get 'better' ones. Well, it's not like they are weighing much. :)

Heh. Yeah, I've seen those go for ridiculous prices. ;)

And technically, one should even be outlawed there... ;)

Well, note that you're talking about Candy Cane shards... the collectable/crafting item. I'm talking about the different types of Candy Canes, which the shards can be traded for only during the Wintersday event, or the shards help you gain Candy Canes during the Wintersday games. Candy Canes were also given out as 'presents' at the end of each visit of the Wintersday deities every couple of hours. Along with eggnog, fruitcake and spiffy holiday hats.

(Certain missions during the holiday event also yielded Frozen Ectoplasm, which could be traded for a tonic that turns you into an elf... one that looks like Bob Newhart from the 'Elf' movie.) :D

I will just keep them for next year. :p

And yeah, I've seen one of those elves run around in the first city (Ascalon?).
