Can blind mage cast sleep on target?

Problem:
Oracle with blindness wants to use perception or allies arrows of whistling to locate targets for his spells.
I argue that finding exactly which square a person is in, by sound alone, is impossible if you are blind. Besides why be a blind oracle if you just try to go around it anyway?

Help me here, rules wise. Sleep has 100ft+ range and no mention about line of sight. Can i cast Sleep through a locked door?

Your original post is not showing up on the pathfinder site, but it is being discussed. You can not cast sleep through a door.

think of it like this, can you cast sleep on an invisible creature?

it is the same concept here, your ability to find your target is compromised (you cant see them) but you can still cast spells at them, hear them, detect them with detection spells

If it makes you feel better give anyone the oracle tries to cast a spell at 50% chance to "dodge" the spell, basically, the oracle just missed their target and once they get blind sight/sense remove that limitation

The oracle is finding creative ways to overcome their curse, as a DM I would award that, it will still be tough, but I would fudge the DC for a perception roll every now and then. Also, Arrows of whistling only whistle when fired, now if ghost sound was cast on the arrow....

PS: the curse is clouded vision, not blindness. they can see out to 30 ft (in darkvision too and if above 5th it is 60ft darkvision)

You cannot cast Sleep through a door. Even though a blind man doesn't have "line of sight", he will still need "line of effect." The door is a solid barrier the person on the otherside, thus the spell doesn't not effect a target on the otherside of the door.

Line of Effect

A line of effect is a straight, unblocked path that indicates what a spell can affect. A line of effect is canceled by a solid barrier. It's like line of sight for ranged weapons, except that it's not blocked by fog, darkness, and other factors that limit normal sight. A line of effect starts from any corner of your square and extends to the limit of its range or until it strikes a barrier that would block it. A line-shaped spell affects all creatures in squares through which the line passes.

The rules have the following to say about spells with a Target entry (emphasis by me):

PRD said:
Target or Targets: Some spells have a target or targets. You cast these spells on creatures or objects, as defined by the spell itself. You must be able to see or touch the target, and you must specifically choose that target. You do not have to select your target until you finish casting the spell.

If the target of a spell is yourself (the Target line of the spell description includes “You”), you do not receive a saving throw, and spell resistance does not apply. The saving throw and spell resistance lines are omitted from such spells.

Some spells restrict you to willing targets only. Declaring yourself as a willing target is something that can be done at any time (even if you're flat-footed or it isn't your turn). Unconscious creatures are automatically considered willing, but a character who is conscious but immobile or helpless (such as one who is bound, cowering, grappling, paralyzed, pinned, or stunned) is not automatically willing.

Some spells allow you to redirect the effect to new targets or areas after you cast the spell. Redirecting a spell is a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

So, I would rule that an oracle with the clouded vision curse cannot target a creature outside field of vision. This affects only "Target" spells, though, not "Area" or "Effect" spells.
