Can Eric's Grandma Be offended at something new?

Over the last couple of months I have seen a lot of threads that related to piracy. Frankly I'm sick of it. The discussion always turns into a mud slinging contest between the pro and the anti departments. The topic always gets political statements involved, which are banned. Often times flames happen in them due to the passonate nature of the topic.

I suggest banning all piracy threads. We don't need to bead that dead horse anymore.

I think it's something that the industry must face and at least for a while we can get some good discusion on it because of the publishers who participate.

We try to keep an eye on the piracy threads but at the moment they're not a "forbidden" topic. The topic is relevant, and as long as people can participate in them without attacking others, assigning ulterior motives for behaviors, etc. then they'll go on. And as with most threads that gets out of hand, they'll be closed as needed and when moderators are alerted. Feel free to drop one of us a line if you think things have gone too far. In the meantime, if the thread has a clear subject line, then feel free to ignore the piracy threads.

i think discussing rpg piracy on an rpg board is a good thing, provided the things metioned by eric are included as well.

generally, IMHO, the more you talk about rpg piracy the fewer rpger's will do it because they'll see the damage they do, if only indirectly. rarely if ever do people read a post about piracy and decide to go pirate when they have not been doing it before.

I thnk that the fact that a disusion's been had before is perfectly fine - there are new people arriving here all the time, and they may not have seen the previous discussion(s).

The only problem wqith piracy threads is that *sometimes* they cab get ugy. I tend to keep an eye on them just in case.
