Can I meet the requirements for a PrC on the level I take it?

Class Features are applied after Feats are chosen, but "A character can gain a feat at the same level at which he or she gains the prerequisite" means he's eligible to take Improved Critical: Longsword.

Or, he's not eligible, because the p. 77 quote only applies to an "ability score, feat, skill, or base attack bonus" (immediately preceding sentence).

Hence the argument.

It is a feat. It's just a feat acquired through a Class Feature.

He gains that Class Feature, and thereby the feat, at the same level at which he wishes to acquire Improved Critical.

Can you unlock the door with a key on the other side? No. Same answer for the first question.

You can use Dimension Door to get there and unlock the door.

So, if you have Dimension Door and you qualify for a feat and then you take the PrC you can do it?

;) :p

How bloody simple is this! Come on folks!

1 Untap.

2 Upkeep.

3 Draw.

4 Main Turn.

You untap by acquiring your XP and getting power.
You upkeep by paying XP for the class level.
You draw by choosing which class you take.
Your main turn is choosing Skills and Feats, which can be done in any order.

DUH!:D

Don't you just love the way every time you hear "the Player's Handbook says absolutely nothing about this", it actually says quite a bit. I think about 80% of the time somebody says this, they are completely wrong. Thus, it is safe to assume that if the books say nothing about a subject, they actually do.

Well, sometimes it does say something, only it's vague, contradictory, and located nowhere near the section that it was supposed to be related to, and doesn't state this in anything other than uncertain implications. But that's why we have a forum for this, eh?
