I wonder how this is going to change the Improved Manyshot Epic feat?

I was under the impression that the Improved Manyshot Epic feat didn't do anything more than Manyshot since it was based on your BAB and BAB doesn't increase after 20th level.

Did I read it wrong ?

Technically your bab doesn't increase after 20th level. But the bonus you gain every other level to attacks (I don't recall what it is exactly) counts toward increasing your bab for the purposes of Multiattack or Improved Multiattack, or for prestige classes that require a high bab, etc. You still have just as many attacks per round (with the full attack action) as you did when you were 20th level, however, and I don't recall any way of changing this (bascially, they wanted to limit characters to a maximum of 4 attacks per round, and if you could increase your bab when you pass 20th level, then you could have 5 attacks fairly quickly - if not at level 21 - and much more once you gain a few levels)

EDIT: Oh and thank you WizardDru for that little snippet. The feat info wasn't what I was interested, but the question was brought up as to what feats a ranger could "gain" at certain levels (since they now have 2-weapon or archery focuses in 3.5 - basically wondering if you could switch between the two)
A 6th-level ranger who has chosen the archery combat style is treated as having Manyshot even if he does not have the prerequisites for it, but only when he is wearing light or no armor.
I think it's safe to assume that you have to stick with the progression you started with.

That really sucks! Manysot was weak enough, and they made it weaker?

I'm with Rackhir - dazed and confused by this statement. Manyshot is incredibly powerful as it currently stands, allowing what is almost a full attack to occur within a standard action, and at a hit penalty that is so small to an archer as to be non-existant. Manyshot is more unbalanced when you add in something like haste.

While hasted, I have done a full attack (5 shots) followed by a manyshot for my partial action (4 more shots). The damage was so extreme that I stopped doing it because I thought it was just wrong.

And it's still fairly powerful. You are comparing it to what it was - instead compare it to your alternative.

You can fire a single arrow at your full bonus or
You can fire two arrows at -4 or
three at -6 or
four at -8

Yes it's one attack roll for the bunch, but that is not a big deal. If you're having a hard time hitting the monster, just fire one shot, or just fire two arrows and still do more damage than you would have before. If it's an easy target, open up. At 20th level, my BAB hovers around +40, so even at +32 it's not a bad option.

Combined with the haste change, this should bring things down to a reasonable level.

Keep in mind that with the bow and arrow stacking changes, archer's attack bonuses are going to stop being quite so unreasonably high -- though if Bracers of Archery stick around, they'll still have a mild bonus over melee people.

"Precision-based damage" seems to be poorly defined, though. I wonder if all damage bonuses will be described as "precision based" or not? Based on 3e precedents, I'd guess that Weapon Specialization bonuses and Bracers of Archery bonuses, as well as the explicitely mentioned Sneak Attack, won't be available to the 2nd and later shots in Multishot.
