Can non-divine characters wear a holy symbol?

My Rogue will M/C Paladin soon.

Just for Symbol of Victory, get 2 of them, so 2 extra AP's per day.

Has to be Paladin as requ. is 13 Charisma and only divine class I can get too.

Lucky being a Half Elf :)

Plus I get to Divine Challenge the enemy once per encounter and attack from extreme range some poor soldier that cant get to me and then takes -2 on attacks for those he can.

Now thats funny, challenging someone then running away, cant wait, that true rogue behaviour.

I can see non-Divine PCs with holy symbols in some settings.

Eberron? Not as much.

Forgotten Realms? Where the Gods walk the earth every so often out of boredom, and where non-faith in any god is the only path to true eternal damnation?

Yes.

Really? Eberron still has at least as much justification for "religion" as the real world. I can totally see a Silver Flame zealot as a barbarian with fire-themed powers. Or a dark-pact warlock devoted to the Blood of Vol, or a kalashtar battlemind who follows the Path of Light, or a bard who secretly makes offerings to the Traveler. That's a full party right there.

Oh I mean, yes, you can have religious characters... but it's not like anyone really KNOWS the gods of that world exist. (alright, the Silver Flame zealots know the Silver Flame exists, and the elves...) It's more like our world where some christians carry crosses, others don't, and it's more a thing of personal expression.

Contrast with the Realms, where Last Tuesday someone killed that one god that replaced the god that died Three Weeks Ago, over there in that town where you bought your armor.

Just read another thread where someone was talking optimization and had a half-elf avenger using Dilettante to take the ranger's Twin Strike At-Will
along with some other stuff to make them do crazy damage.

Is playing a half-elf broken. Is Dilettante broken? Are they both broken?

Just wondering...

Versatile Master is the issue, if anything. I think it's more held in check by the rather sub-optimal ability scores the half elf gets compared to most classes that can abuse it. But it allows people to put out some of the highest theoretical numbers available.

Throw and Stab (variant Twin Strike) from MP2, Astral Seal, Righteous Brand are probably the top picks after Twin Strike. After that, maybe Hand of Radiance... things start to get murky then. For example, certain abilities when combined with other feats - like White Lotus Riposte.
